‘Have you seen this man’: Critics slam NYC mayor for leaving city amidst frigid temps

New Yorkers are trapped in what has all the appearances of a permanent cycle of woe due to the fact that they keep electing Democrats, despite ample evidence of the ruination wrought by their policies and it doesn’t help matters when the mayor of the nation’s largest city has flown the coop in the middle of a natural disaster.

On Christmas weekend, much of the country is being subjected to severe weather that has paralyzed many areas and shut down holiday travel as a bomb cyclone with frigid temperatures has brought life-threatening conditions, with New York City being particularly hard hit due to the homelessness in the teeming metropolis that has seen a recent influx of illegal immigrants strain essential services, particularly shelters where desperate people seek refuge from the bone-chilling cold.

But Mayor Eric Adams has been missing in action, bringing an outpouring of outrage over his absence during the “once in a generation” winter storm that has dropped nighttime temperatures into the single digits, having vanished on Thursday with his whereabouts not being divulged.

“The mayor is still in touch with everybody on the ground,” Adams spokesperson Fabien Levy told the Gothamist. “He is coordinating all the city’s responses.”

One leftist group, New York Communities for Change which identifies itself as resisting “fascist policies affecting our most vulnerable communities,” in its Twitter bio, posted an Old West-style wanted poster of the missing mayor captioned “Have you seen this man?” along with Adams’ age, height and weight.

“Last seen: Thursday, December 22nd leaving his city in the middle of a natural disaster,” the group added, including a picture of the latest press briefing by city leaders on the winter weather with one very noticeable exception.

Perhaps Mayor Adams was merely taking the advice of just-elected New York Governor Kathy Hochul.

“With Mother Nature throwing everything she has at us this weekend, I encourage New Yorkers who are considering traveling for the holidays to do so before Friday or after Sunday to stay safe,” the Democrat strongwoman said in a statement.

“You’d think a mayor who spends so much time at clubs wouldn’t need to go gallivanting on vacation as New Yorkers freeze and die,” said Bill Neidhardt, a former press secretary for Adams’ predecessor Bill de Blasio. “Adams needs to make a New Year’s resolution to take this job seriously.”

Other critics took to Twitter to express their dismay that the Democrat leader wouldn’t put the safety of residents in the city that he is supposed to be running over his own personal leisure time.

In October, Guardian Angels founder Curtis Sliwa, who lost to Adams in last year’s mayoral election, ridiculed Hizzoner’s campaign claims that he was a “blue-collar mayor” by pointing out the inconsistencies between the Gotham leader’s words and his actions, pointing out that he spent his summer vacation on a yacht in Monaco – a trip that New York Magazine likened to a certain British secret service agent, writing that he was “taking a page from James Bond,” – as well as breaking bread with billionaires at a famous Italian eatery and partying with high-rollers in the Hamptons, mocking the exclusive soirees as “the stuff blue collar NYC residents do all the time!”

He can now add Adams’s winter disaster escape from New York to the list.

An unnamed official in Adams’ administration acknowledged that it was “strange” for City Hall to be so secretive about the whereabouts of the mayor.

“They’re probably not saying where he is because they don’t want anyone to know who he’s with,” said the anonymous official, according to the New York Daily News.

Mayor Adams is expected to resurface sometime on Christmas Eve.
