Absolutely gutwrenching video from Hawaii shows ravenous fires overtaking hundreds of hectares of land, razing buildings and killing dozens.
At least 36 people are dead, and hundreds more are reported to be missing as families grow more desperate to connect with their loved ones during what is being called a “mass casualty event.” It is also being reported that 271 buildings have been decimated and that number could increase as the insatiable blaze continues.
Visuals from the area show the terrifying reality Hawaiians are currently facing:
I’m scheduled to fly into Hawaii this Friday for business. (9 days)
(I’m bringing my entire family so they can vacay while I work.) I’ll also be joining in as I’m fulfilling my contract.

Video from one of our divers right before they realized they needed to start running ASAP. None of the condos they were staying in survived and they lost a lot of stuff but everyone is safe. #MauiFires pic.twitter.com/ddDOVEmGA6

My uncle, Tony Guerrero, lives on Maui. Has anyone seen him or knows someone there who can help us find out. He has a huge Chamorro family who loves him and is very worried. pic.twitter.com/xr0Z7LQ3fO— Hypnotoad Mom (@dusinberre) August 10, 2023
