Leftists are desperate to pin the fraud case against New York Attorney General Letitia James on President Donald Trump, but one Democrat is setting the record straight.
It started when Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-California) shared a Fox News story about the Department of Justice (DOJ) launching an investigation into James, which the lawmaker was quick to call an act of corruption.
Look:
Get ready.
We must LOUDLY protest this. Trump is corruptly going after his enemies. If we are silent, democracy dies. https://t.co/L5xbkMJnt8

“Get ready. We must LOUDLY protest this. Trump is corruptly going after his enemies. If we are silent, democracy dies,” Swalwel dramatically wrote.
There’s just one problem: The president is not behind the investigation.
Sam E. Antar, “Wall Street criminal turned fraud investigator,” shared Swalwell’s post to inform the lawmaker of the fraud case’s real origin.
Hey Dummy @RepSwalwell: It’s not Trump. It’s me—a Democrat—who exposed @NewYorkStateAG Letitia James for signing a sworn mortgage document saying she intended to make a Virginia house her “principal residence.”
That intent matters. It gave her better loan terms she didn’t… https://t.co/3UgP89Ifmj

“Hey Dummy [Swalwell]: It’s not Trump. It’s me—a Democrat—who exposed Letitia James for signing a sworn mortgage document saying she intended to make a Virginia house her ‘principal residence.’ That intent matters. It gave her better loan terms she didn’t deserve. It’s called mortgage fraud. She never moved. Never filed a Virginia homestead exemption. Never disclosed the mortgage in her NY ethics filings. That’s not politics—it’s perjury, deception, and fraud. And you’re defending her? You’re the one killing democracy—with lies, tribalism, and protection rackets for corrupt insiders,” he wrote.
X users reacted to the admission:
Thank you. Your great work has inspired me and others. You are one of my heros and role models .

While we may disagree on most political questions we should all agree that those committing crimes on BOTH sides need to face justice

Thank you for doing your job and not looking the other way or playing politics with this.

We need to stop NY from paying for this crooks legal defense! Contact all NY Representatives to fight to remove this from the budget. NY taxpayers should not be covering Gov Representatives personal legal fees.

I’m a Republican and I would turn in one of my own for breaking the law the way James did. Fair is fair if we hold people accountable….
