Hispanic Texas candidates see GOP wave: Hispanics see through ‘garbage’ Democrats are pushing

Mayra Flores, the Hispanic Republican who scored an upset victory in Texas this week against a Democrat candidate, says that the left’s assumption that all Hispanics must be Democrats shows that the party doesn’t truly understand her community.

Speaking on Fox News’ “Hannity” late Wednesday, she explained that because of race alone, Democrats assume she and other Hispanics must always be Democrats.

The problem, Flores argued, is that in making this assumption, Democrats are proving they don’t truly understand or care about the Hispanic community.

“I feel like the Democrat Party has walked away from the Hispanic community. They’ve gone so far left, and they don’t represent our values. People always ask me, Mayra, how can you be a Republican [when] you were born in Mexico? And that’s — that clearly shows me that they know nothing about our culture. I was raised with strong conservative values. We’re all about faith and family and hard work. That’s who we are,” she said.

“So, our values do really align with the Republican Party. But I do feel that, for a long time, prior to 2020, no one was really paying attention to the Hispanic community. And I’m grateful that, finally, the Republican Party is investing in the Hispanic community. Because we are the future, but the Democrat Party has completely abandoned us and taken us for granted. They feel entitled to our vote. And they feel they don’t really have to work for it.”

Flores won big in a special election held this Tuesday in Texas’ 34th Congressional District, despite the Hispanic-majority district having gone for President Joe Biden in 2020 and then-Democrat nominee Hillary Clinton in 2016.

Flores must, unfortunately, fight for her seat again in November. However, she’s expected to win. Furthermore, most view Flores’ victory as a bellwether for the entire midterm election, especially in light of data showing that even in 2020, the Hispanic community had begun moving more toward the right.

Speaking on Fox News’ “The Ingraham Angle” later Wednesday evening, fellow Texas Republican congressional candidate Monica De La Cruz echoed Flores’ sentiment.

“I am a former Democrat who walked away from the Democrat Party because the Democrat Party is far removed from the values that are important to Hispanics. Those values include their faith, it includes their family, and it includes love of country,” she said.

She added that she and Flores are by no means alone.

“Hispanic voters are seeing through the garbage that the Democrats are putting out. Hispanic voters with their votes are showing that they stand with Border Patrol, they stand with customs agents,” she said.

“We believe as Hispanics in law and order, and what the Biden administration is doing to our law enforcement officers and our brave men and women on the border is just disgusting. And Hispanics are going to show that feeling of disgust with the Democrat Party in November,” she predicted.

Listen:

Notice what Cruz said about Border Patrol agents. Word emerged this week that the Biden Department of Homeland Security intends to punish the agents who were caught up last year in the fake Haitian migrant whipping scandal.

As previously reported, mounted Border Patrol agents were caught on camera last year attempting to prevent Haitian migrants from illegally crossing into the the country.

The footage showed them gripping their horses’ reins as they tried to navigate between the hordes of migrants. As the footage went viral, so did accusations that the reins were whips that the Border Patrol agents were using to terrorize the Haitians.

It was all false, of course, but even the White House fell for this narrative, which in turn prompted even CNN to call out the administration’s lies.

An investigation into the matter eventually concluded with the agents being effectively acquitted of any criminal charges. However, word emerged this week that the Biden administration is apparently now going after the agents in a different manner. Specifically, DHS intends to hit them with “administrative violations.”

News of DHS’ intentions sparked massive anger, particularly from Border Patrol agents themselves.

“Border Patrol agents are furious after it has emerged that the Department of Homeland Security is expected to punish multiple agents who were caught up in since-debunked allegations that they whipped Haitian migrants in Del Rio last year – exacerbating already rock-bottom morale among agents who see a politicized investigation designed to deliver a result for the White House,” Fox News confirmed Wednesday.

Here’s the key via Border Report: “Latinos make up 30 percent of ICE agents and nearly 50 percent of Border Patrol agents.”
