Concern over rhetoric was a one-way street for a TDS-suffering Democratic representative whose pearl-clutching left out an array of threats to Republican colleagues.

Former President Donald Trump’s “rot in hell” Christmas message struck a sour chord for Michigan Rep. Debbie Dingell (D) as she lamented “Violence is becoming normalized,” during an appearance on CNN.
While “CNN News Central” host Sara Sidner asked about safety concerns for the Colorado judges who ruled against Trump appearing on the state’s ballot, no mention was made of the numerous swatting incidents that occurred over the holiday.
“They’re deteriorating and they’re getting worse,” Dingell said when asked if there had been a change in public servants receiving threats. “And quite frankly, I’m going to tell you that I think it was one of the most pathetic Christmas greetings I’ve heard when a former president of the United States who wants to return tells people on Christmas Day that they ‘can rot in hell.'”
Monday afternoon, Trump had taken to Truth Social to wish, “Merry Christmas to all, including Crooked Joe Biden’s ONLY HOPE, Deranged [Special Counsel] Jack Smith,” and the “THUGS we have in our Country…”
“MAY THEY ROT IN HELL. AGAIN, MERRY CHRISTMAS!” concluded the former president for those “looking to destroy our once great USA.”
“He is contributing to the divisiveness and division in this country,” asserted the Michigan lawmaker before recounting, “Yes, I have had people, and after he went after me, and quite frankly, there were men outside of my house with assault weapons, and I have had threats, but it is hate and division [that] are creeping into our communities far too easily.”
“Violence is becoming normalized. Every last one of us has to stand up. We can disagree civilly; we need to respect every human being with dignity,” she continued. “We need to treat them like everybody’s a human being and bring that civility back because our democracy’s in trouble if we start to let the kind of anger, violence and division that’s creeping in be normalized more.”
What she didn’t mention were the swatting incidents that occurred for both New York Rep. Brandon Williams (R) and Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R) on Christmas Day when false 911 calls were made dispatching law enforcement officials to their respective homes, potentially putting lives in danger.

The legislators weren’t alone as commentator Jack Posobiec had taken to X to report that his parents had been “swatted again…Christmas night,” and social media influencer Catturd had reported being swatted days earlier.
Additionally, the Georgia congresswoman shared details of threats of violence that included suggestions that she would be shot in the head as well as naming her boyfriend and the president, “He also says he would like to smash Trump’s and Brian’s heads on a curb.”
For his part, Trump did not receive Dingell’s remarks idly. He returned to Truth Social Tuesday to label her “a LOSER, who is helping Crooked Joe Biden, and his Merry Band of Thugs, to DESTROY our Country with his INSANE Open Borders Policy, Inflation, High Cost Energy, Green New Scam, HORRIBLE WORLD DIPLOMACY, Afghanistan Catastrophe, All Electric Cars, and so much else.”
“Our Country is a NO LONGER RESPECTED MESS, A NATION IN DECLINE, A FAILING, CRIME RIDDEN COUNTRY,” the former president continued. “When I gave, as President, her long serving husband, the absolute highest U.S. honors for his funeral, a really big deal, she called me, crying almost uncontrollably, to say that she couldn’t believe I was willing to do that for a Democrat. She thanked me profusely. Two months later, she was back on the trail ranting and raving about ‘TRUMP.’ She ought to focus on how badly the Auto Workers of Michigan, and the USA as a whole, are being treated by CHINA, to which Crooked Joe Biden has given this once great industry away!”
