House Republican calls for Mamdani to be stripped of citizenship for concealment of material support of terrorism

Rep. Andy Ogles, R-Tennessee, believes that the Department of Justice (DOJ) should take action on New York City mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani.

The House Republican is sending a letter to the DOJ in the hopes of swaying them to probe into the mayoral race’s frontrunner. He believes that Mamdani’s “past statements and associations, including his refusal to disavow violent anti-American rhetoric and continued public praise for individuals convicted of providing material support to Hamas,” are worthy of investigation. The self-avowed socialist is also a dual citizen with the United States and Uganda, having been naturalized in 2018.

Ogles believes that, if Mamdani hid his sympathies for organizations with terrorist ties during his naturalization process, that would indicate that his citizenship was fraudulently obtained. In that case, he can be denaturalized and then deported back to his home country.

“No individual, regardless of public office or public profile, should be shielded from accountability if credible evidence indicates deception or concealment during the citizenship process,” the lawmaker wrote.

“I again urge the Department to open a formal investigation into whether Mr. Mamdani’s public expressions of support for the Holy Land Foundation’s convicted leadership, and his ongoing rhetoric sympathetic to anti-Israel and anti-U.S. movements, were disclosed as required during his naturalization.”

The Holy Land Foundation has been officially accused of having ties to known terror group Hamas, which has caused unimaginable chaos in Gaza and the Middle East.
