How low can he go? Jeffries claims Trump, GOP running a ‘pedophile protection program’

House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries has accused President Donald Trump and congressional Republicans of running a “pedophile protection program.”

Jeffries issued the wild accusation during a Capitol Hill press conference on Monday concerning the ongoing Schumer shutdown.

“All Republicans care about is the opinion of one man, the puppet master of the Republican Party, Donald J. Trump,” he began. “They don’t care about anything else.”

“How else can you explain the fact that they are weaponizing hunger? How else can one explain the fact that they refuse to extend the Affordable Care Act tax credits, and they’re hurting their own constituents?” he added.

His accusations were a distortion of reality. It’s Democrats who have continually voted to keep the government shut down because Republicans rightly refuse to extend COVID-era subsidies for the wealth-distribution scam known as Obamacare.

And in voting to keep the government shut down, Democrats have also endangered the Americans who rely on food stamps to survive.

“How else can you explain the fact that Republicans have canceled votes now for six consecutive weeks — missing in action, taxpayer-funded vacations, running the pedophile protection program — while doing nothing to make life better for the American people,” Jeffries continued.

Again, it’s Democrats who refuse to go along with the Republicans’ continuing resolution (CR) and reopen the government.

The “pedophile protection program” insult, meanwhile, was related to House Speaker Mike Johnson’s refusal to swear in Democrat Rep.-elect Adelita Grijalva until the government shutdown ends.

Grijalva is a Jeffrey Epstein-obsessed lawmaker who’s vowed to vote in favor of releasing the so-called Epstein files once she’s sworn in.

“What’s Donald Trump been doing this weekend?” Jeffries added. “He was on the golf course, spitting in the face of the American people with his inaction and his indifference. We’re on the right side of the American people. That’s what this fight has been all about.”

Yet polls show that, for the most part, who voters blame for the ongoing government shutdown depends on which party they support.

“The groups most likely to blame Trump and Republicans for the shutdown include core Democratic constituencies like self-described liberals, young voters, those in urban areas, black voters, and higher-educated voters,” according to NBC News.

“Those blaming Democrats include self-identified MAGA supporters, white men, and rural and older voters,” the reporting continues.

“Each party could look at this data and say, ‘Let’s not blink,'” Republican pollster Bill McInturff of Public Opinion Strategies told NBC News.

During a press conference of his own on Monday, Speaker Johnson excoriated Democrats over their shameless shutdown lies.

“The obviously false claim from the Democrats is that Republicans have closed the government,” he said. “They’re blaming the shutdown on the Republicans, and it is patently absurd. … It is Republicans who have voted to open the government. … And on 13 different occasions, 13 times, the Democrats have voted to close the government.”

“Republicans and the Senate and the House voted to keep the lights on, to pay service members and our troops who are in harm’s way, Border Patrol agents, TSA, air traffic controllers, all federal workers. They voted to ensure that women, infants, and children nutrition programs continue and that SNAP benefits continue to go to the American families who are in need,” he added.

He went on to slam Democrats for lying to the American people and claiming it’s Republicans who’ve shut the government down.

“They have voted to close the government, and then they have gone out to the hall, to the nearest camera they can find, and they look into the lens and say, ‘Republicans are shutting down the government,'” he said. “It makes no sense. It’s the most extreme example of gaslighting in the history of American politics. And many in the media have allowed them to get away with that.”
