A past prediction from Hunter Biden remained to be determined Monday ahead of a congressional testimony that could spell out who’ll actually have “the last laugh.”
Last week, an attempt at a plea deal fell apart for the son of President Joe Biden as Delaware Judge Maryellen Noreika pointed to the ongoing investigation of alleged influence-peddling, particularly foreign entities, dating back to 2018.
Devon Archer, the younger Biden’s friend, business partner and fellow Burisma board member, remained expected to testify before the House Oversight Committee Monday about the elder Biden’s suspected involvement in criminal bribery.
As it happened, the Delaware U.S. Attorney’s Office’s investigation had begun the same year that Archer and Hunter had a text exchange wherein the scandal-ridden Biden appeared to slam the Justice Department and assert he and his pal would come out on top, according to Fox News Digital.
The outlet shared a series of messages between the two from Nov. 15, 2018, that began with Archer announcing that his conviction for defrauding a Native American tribe out of $60 million had been thrown out.
“Thank f*cking god! First good news in way too long my friend. I am so happy for you. I know its been a living hell but put it behind you now and take great steps forward. Love you,” Hunter responded in messages found on his infamous laptop.
After the friend replied in kind, the now-first son emphasized, “Very much man. Really mean it. Im smiling for the first time in a year. Motherf*ckers. I swear to god we’ll have the last laugh.”
Since that exchange, Archer, who also co-founded the investment firm Rosemont Seneca Partners with Biden and Christopher Heinz, the stepson to U.S. Special Presidential Envoy for Climate John Kerry, had had his conviction reinstated in Oct. 2020 and was handed a sentence of one year in prison last year.
After losing his appeal earlier this month, it looked as though the DOJ was attempting to expedite Archer’s incarceration Sunday as reports began to circulate of an imminent arrest. Those reports presented concerns of potential obstruction of Congress if the witness was unable to testify before the Oversight Committee Monday as scheduled, though the Department of Justice refuted the reports.

Archer, who visited the then-Vice President Joe Biden at the White House at least twice during his time in office, once for a 2009 reception and again in 2014 in the West Wing, had expressed his mutual fondness for Hunter in their chat.
“I know. And I mean it. Can I please come see you now that I’m not a felon!?!” he asked after the “last laugh” line. “Don’t answer that. Just when and where?”
Hunter remarked, “I liked you better as a felon and you know it. I’m in Newburyport MA for next week or so. Call me later.”
Ahead of the business partner’s testimony, Archer’s attorney Matthew Schwartz released a statement that read, “Devon Archer believes strongly in the rule of law and the democratic system, and is prepared to answer the Committee’s questions just as he has already answered similar questions from a federal grand jury, the Department of Justice, and several other government agencies in their investigations concerning the Biden family.”
