‘I certainly won’t take advice’: Jean-Pierre responds to border invitation from Ted Cruz

White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre rejected an invitation from Republican Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas to visit the border during a Tuesday press briefing after being questioned about the crisis on immigration.

“One thing I — I will say is I certainly don’t need lectures, or invitations from Republicans about the border or border policies,” Jean-Pierre continued. “And, you know — and I certainly won’t take advice on border from — from anyone who voted against securing record level of funding for the Department of Homeland Security.”

Jean-Pierre had previously denied that migrants were walking across the border during an Aug. 29 exchange with Fox News White House correspondent Peter Doocy, despite video evidence contradicting her claim.

“It’s not like somebody walks over,” Jean-Pierre claimed then.

Cruz then invited Jean-Pierre to see conditions on the border after the Aug, 29 exchange.

“I’ve been to the border. I went in 2018. I stood outside facilities where the Trump Administration was separating families, tearing babies out of their mother’s arms. Some of those kids still haven’t been reunited with their families,” Jean-Pierre said, referring to the Trump administration’s efforts to halt illegal immigration.

Daily Caller News Foundation investigative reporter Jennie Taer posted video of migrants walking across the border on Twitter on Aug. 30.

The White House did not immediately respond to a request for comment from the DCNF.
