‘I don’t think it’s a coincidence’: Timing of Susan Rice’s resignation raises eyebrows

President Joe Biden’s sudden announcement that Domestic Policy Advisor Susan Rice would be stepping down sparked speculation that the Obama confidant could, among other possibilities, be holding a grudge against Vice President Kamala Harris.

From the outset, Rice, who had previously served as the United States ambassador to the United Nations and National Security Advisor during former President Barack Obama’s administration, had stated that her time with the Domestic Policy Council would only last about two years. Now that her tenure is set to end, the timing appeared all too convenient.

“I don’t think it’s a coincidence that Susan Rice departed 24 hours before Joe Biden,” former Utah congressman and Fox News contributor Jason Chaffetz said Monday on “The Five.”

“I wouldn’t be surprised-” he continued before Jeanine Pirro interjected, “Why? What does that tell you?”

“Because I think she actually might be a candidate,” Chaffetz suggested before Greg Gutfeld offered up his own prediction tying together another major shakeup with the separation of Fox News and Tucker Carlson.

“I don’t think, by the time you get to the end of the year, he’s actually going to run. And when they switched the calendar — so South Carolina goes before Iowa and all this — that was a move by the Congressional Black Caucus and I think somebody like Susan Rice who’s got strong credentials with Obama, and with Biden, looks at that and says ‘Why aren’t I the president?”

Were Biden to retract his bid for reelection, many would expect Harris to step up to take her second shot at the top spot, a point Dana Perino made when she asked, “You think that Susan Rice is going to take on Kamala Harris for the nomination?”

As previously reported, the book “This Will Not Pass: Trump, Biden, and the Battle for America’s Future” by New York Times reporters Jonathan Martin and Alexander Burns suggested that Rice, along with now-Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass, was on the shortlist for the vice presidential nomination only to be sabotaged by Harris’ team.

“So in 2024 it’ll be Susan Rice vs. Tucker Carlson,” Gutfeld mused at the potential that Rice would have no qualms taking on Harris.

Meanwhile, others speculated that her departure was part of a broader plan to sabotage Biden by those close to Obama’s camp. Daniel Scholpes commented having previously suggested the president’s classified document scandal was tied to his old boss, that, “Shortly after I made these two posts…Kash Patel said that Susan Rice, who is 100% extension of Obama, was the person behind the ‘discoveries’ of the Biden classified documents…which aligned completely with my Obama sabotage hypothesis. Are the few Joe Biden loyalists that aren’t completely controlled by Obama finally pushing back against his agenda now?”

However, what cannot go overlooked are the number of disasters under Rice’s leadership with the latest still unfolding as the border crisis has expanded into a child labor controversy as a New York Times report highlighted thousands of unaccompanied minors were winding up in “punishing jobs across the country…all in violation of child labor laws.”

Rice and the White House were said to have ignored the warning signs, but, according to NBC News, “Administration officials said the controversy has nothing to do with Rice’s decision to leave, which they said was already in the works.”
