‘I will be there to help!’ Trump calls for Indiana GOP senators to be ‘primaried’

President Donald Trump is going after the Indiana Republicans who rejected a redistricting plan he supported.

The plan would have given the GOP two additional congressional seats, further solidifying the party’s majority. However, the plan was shot down by a 31-19 vote which included a large number of state Republicans. Trump did not take kindly to this, and called for them to be “primaried” in a Truth Social post on Friday night.

Look:

“Republicans in the Indiana State Senate, who voted against a Majority in the U.S. House of Representatives, should be ashamed of themselves. Headed by a total loser named Rod Bray, every one of these people should be “primaries,” and I will be there to help! Indiana, which I won big, is the only state in the Union to do this!” Trump wrote.

When asked about the vote shortly after it took place, the president had a much more tempered reaction but still called for Bray to face a primary challenge.

“I wasn’t working on it very hard. Would have been nice, I think we would have picked up two seats, if we did that. You had one gentleman, the head of the Senate, I guess, Bray, whatever his name is, I heard he was against it. He’ll probably lose his next primary, whenever that is. I hope he does, because he’s done a tremendous disservice,” Trump said.

CNN’s Manu Raju immediately jumped on the result to ask House Speaker Mike Johnson if it means that Trump is losing his power over the Republican Party.

Watch:

Are you worried about Trump’s grip on power after Indiana? Do you think it shows he’s a lame duck?” Raju pressed.

“Not at all! No, he is not a lame duck! He’s the most powerful president of this generation and many others. We have a lot more work to do together. The outcome in Indiana is inconsequential to that,” Johnson responded.
