Federal immigration authorities in D.C. managed to scoop up a violent illegal alien sodomizer from Iran despite Virginia’s anti-ICE policies.
The illegal alien, Shayan Kahhal, has a lengthy criminal history that includes rape, sexual assault, and sodomy of both a boy and a girl.
Kahhal is also a registered “Tier 3” sex offender, according to the Virginia State Police.
He was found and apprehended by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) sometime earlier this week.

His arrest by ICE came despite an abundance of anti-ICE policies that have been passed and/or signed into law by Democrats.
The first policy is a trio of bills by state Sen. Saddam Salim that forbids Virginia law enforcement from working/cooperating with ICE.
“I’m seeking to give some comfort to thousands of men, women, and children in the Commonwealth who are living in fear that federal agents might send them or their family members to a country they fled, or a country they have never been to,” Salim said in a statement.
All three of my bills to rein in the chaos and cruelty of ICE passed the Virginia Senate 21-19. Virginians do not want the rogue, untrained agents of Trump’s private militia roaming our communities, and Virginia Democrats won’t stand for it. @ACLUVA @CASAforall pic.twitter.com/NSElOAB8P4

The second policy is a decision by Democrat Gov. Abigail Spanberger to reverse an executive order by her Republican predecessor that had allowed local authorities to share resources and information with ICE.
“Governor Spanberger today directed Virginia’s state law enforcement agencies and divisions — Virginia State Police, Virginia Department of Corrections, Virginia Conservation Police, and Virginia Marine Police — to terminate all existing 287(g) agreements with U.S. Customs and Immigration Enforcement (ICE),” her office said in a statement.
Spanberger’s decision, made earlier this month, prompted a response from Republican Rep. Ben Cline.
“These recent actions are inconsistent with your previous support for law enforcement,” he wrote in a letter to the governor. “During your campaign for Governor of Virginia, you ran on the promise to empower law enforcement and protect Virginians from violent crime. Your recent executive actions do not reflect that commitment to protection.”
“Numerous violent criminals, such as Edwin Antonio Hernandez, a man responsible for five murders in El Salvador, have been taken off Virginia’s streets. With the absence of cooperation between state and federal law enforcement agencies, apprehending violent individuals such as Hernandez will be more difficult and dangerous to achieve,” he added.

Something similar has been happening in nearby Maryland, where ICE recently arrested a criminal illegal alien who’d been charged with attempted murder, assault, and reckless endangerment.
The illegal alien, Filberto Gonzalez Gutierrez, “sliced his wife’s neck open with a box cutter and accused her of cheating on him,” according to a Department of Homeland Security (DHS) press release.
He was successfully scooped up by ICE because the Anne Arundale County Detention Center honored their detainer and allowed for “a safe and controlled transfer of custody.”
The problem is that Democrat Gov. Wes Moore has since signed a law banning this sort of cooperation with ICE.
“Filberto Gonzalez Gutierrez, a monster who sliced his wife’s neck open with a box cutter, will never walk American streets again because Anne Arundale County worked with ICE to keep this criminal off our streets,” DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin said in a statement.
“Now, Maryland sanctuary politicians are playing Russian roulette with American lives by outlawing cooperation with ICE and forcing law enforcement to RELEASE criminals from their jails into our communities and perpetrate more crimes and create more victims. Unfortunately, the only consequence will be the continued murder, rape, assault, robbery, and carnage of American lives,” she added.
