Ilhan Omar takes BOLD stand on her name, lashes out at Trump over ‘fake name’ controversy

U.S. Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) doubled down on her “real name” after a federal court filing showed her name matching that of her former husband, who has long been rumored to be the “Squad” member’s own brother.

Fox News Digital reported on the search warrant document that shows the embattled congresswoman’s name as Ilhan Nur Said Elmi, which, according to one former Minnesota immigration judge, could cause every form that she has filled out to potentially be “called into question” if it were to be proven that she has been living her “entire life under an alias.”

On Friday, a reporter for the conservative outlet caught up with the Somalia-born Democrat at the Karmel Mall of Somalia in Minneapolis as she was heading into the Karmel Masjid inside the mall for one of the five daily Muslim calls to prayer.

“Ilhan Abdullahi Omar, you know it,” she told the Fox News Digital reporter when asked about her name. “It’s Ilhan Abdullahi Omar.”

Her comments come after the outlet was first to report on the filing in which prosecutors referred to the Minnesota Democrat as “Ilhan Nur Said Elmi, a/k/a Ilhan Abdullahi Omar,” also confirmed by two sources, including one in law enforcement.

The Wednesday motion was filed by U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia Jeanine Pirro and seeks to prevent the federal search warrant for Omar’s Washington, D.C. home from being unsealed per request from multiple media organizations. According to the motion, the feds have not completed executing the warrant.

The congresswoman’s home was raided early in the morning on October 12 as part of an ongoing federal criminal investigation, a Justice Department spokesperson confirmed.

Republicans pounced after the news broke, including President Donald J. Trump, who called for her resignation on Truth Social and during a rally in Sioux City, Iowa, on Thursday.

“Because she used a fake name to be sworn in, I assume she must immediately have to resign from Congress,” the president told the crowd.

Omar lashed out at Trump on social media over the “fake name” controversy.

“The pedophile protection party’s president is laundering right-wing conspiracy theories through the most corrupt DOJ in American history,” she fumed in a Friday X post. “Whenever the news turns bad, this creep reaches for one name: mine. So let’s make it crystal clear. My name has always been Ilhan Omar.”

Former immigration judge Nathan Hansen told Fox News Digital that every document signed by Omar could come into question.

“You think of all the types of documents somebody like her might have filled out,” he said. “There’d be federal student loan and student aid applications, maybe federal housing related applications, maybe public assistance applications, passport applications, passport information and driver’s license information, Real I.D. information [and] voting information.”

Hansen also suggested that the ethically-challenged congresswoman could be subjected to criminal charges.

“Sometimes they might say that that would be a wire fraud charge, they always add that one,” he told the outlet. “And that’s pretty broad. But, you know, a lot of these documents are sworn under penalty of perjury.”

“They keep talking about deportation, no, she could go to jail,” Trump said at the White House earlier this week, adding, “This is just my opinion — I think she’s a sick, very dishonest person who hates our country, and she comes from a country that essentially is not even a country.”
