Charges alleged against an illegal alien in Philadelphia appeared to put Republicans in the right on voter ID, adding new fire to the debate.
“DO NOT let Democrats LIE to you and pretend this isn’t happening.”
In recent years, while the GOP has called for tightening constraints to secure elections to the greatest extent possible, opponents on the left have both decried voter ID measures and pressed for expanded mail-in ballots. As this coincided with the globalist open border agenda, the two issues converged at their obvious conclusion with the arrest of a 50-year-old illegal alien from the Islamic Republic of Mauritania, alleged to have voted in at least five presidential elections.
Thursday, U.S. Attorney David Metcalf of the Eastern District of Pennsylvania announced the arrest of Mahady Sacko for alleged fraudulent voting. Having entered the United States in 1998, the Mauritanian’s 2000 deportation order hadn’t prevented him from sticking around to allegedly vote in every election since President Barack Obama had been sent to the White House.
An FBI special agent investigating the case detailed in the criminal complaint how the illegal alien also “voted in the following federal election: the 2008 general election, the 2012 general election, the 2016 primary election, the 2016 general election, the 2020 primary election [and] the 2020 general election.”
“Sacko voted in person for each of these elections, except for the 2020 primary election, in which he voted by mail. On each occasion, Sacko falsely represented that he was a U.S. citizen,” the agent indicated.
Adding insult to injury, the complaint detailed that the illegal alien, who failed to abide by the court order to leave the country, was not removed from the United States upon being arrested a year before the first alleged vote because he didn’t have a valid passport for his own country. “However, Sacko did not have a current passport from Mauritania and ICE/ERO was unable to obtain one for him. As a result, ICE/ERO was unable to enforce the decision of the Immigration Judge and remove Sacko from the United States. Sacko was placed on supervision with ICE/ERO, which required him to regularly report to their office as an alien under an order of deportation.”
It was also noted by The Philadelphia Inquirer that the illegal alien was registered as a Democrat.
“THIS is Why We Must PASS THE SAVE ACT!” the Republican Party of Pennsylvania posted to X. “The SAVE America Act is supported by over 70% of Americans. It would prevent illegal immigrants from voting in our federal elections, like this example from 2024, when illegal immigrant Mahady Sacko of Philadelphia fraudulently voted in the 2024 Election.”

Similarly, Pennsylvania Sen. David McCormick (R) expressed on Fox News’ “Kudlow” on Friday, “So, this is exactly why we need to bring about confidence. So, that’s one thing. We also, good Lord, we need to fund the Department of Homeland Security. We have a domestic threat on the rise because of what’s happening in the Middle East, and we need to guard against it.”

While a vote remained unscheduled regarding the SAVE America Act, ahead of what many expect would be a heated primary runoff, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton (R) vowed to consider suspending his campaign against incumbent Sen. John Cornyn (R) “if Senate Leadership agrees to lift the filibuster and passes the SAVE America Act.”
Looking back, Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro (D), who announced his re-election campaign earlier this year, had said in 2021 while serving as Pennsylvania’s attorney general, “In the General Assembly, bad actors are pushing bills to limit voting rights through voter ID measures and rolling back mail in voting. These lawmakers are attempting to take away your freedom to vote for their own political gain. This is un-American and I won’t stand for it.”
