Amid a reported 1,000% increase in assaults on immigration enforcement officers, a Chicago operation turned deadly when an officer was dragged by the car of an allegedly fleeing illegal alien.
Not even a full week into the Trump administration’s Operation Midway Blitz, which had kicked off across the Windy City and throughout Illinois, targeting “the worst of the worst criminal illegal aliens,” the import of that mission on public safety loomed large.
Specifically, one U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officer had been hospitalized before his peers could neutralize “a criminal illegal alien with a history of reckless driving” who reportedly refused to comply with a traffic stop, and instead was said to have driven his car at the officers, striking one and dragging him “a significant distance” in the village of Franklin Park.

Details on the incident from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) explained, “ICE officers conducted a vehicle stop to arrest Silverio Villegas-Gonzalez. He refused to follow law enforcements commands and drove his car at law enforcement officers. One of the ICE officers was hit by the car and dragged a significant distance. Fearing for his own life, the officer fired his weapon.”
“The target of the enforcement operation was Silverio Villegas-Gonzalez, a criminal illegal alien with a history of reckless driving. He entered the country at an unknown date and time,” the press release concluded.
Offering her own statement on the incident that ended with the ICE officer in stable condition and the illegal alien pronounced dead, DHS Assistant Secretary for Public Affairs Tricia McLaughlin said, “We are praying for the speedy recovery of our law enforcement officer. He followed his training, used appropriate force, and properly enforced the law to protect the public and law enforcement.”
“Viral social media videos and activists encouraging illegal aliens to resist law enforcement not only spread misinformation, but also undermine public safety, as well as the safety of our officers and those being apprehended,” she added.
In response to the incident, Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker (D) appeared to plant a seed of doubt about the actions of federal agents as he had insisted in part, “the people of Illinois deserve a full, factual accounting of what’s happened today to ensure transparency and accountability.”
I am aware of the troubling incident that has unfolded in Franklin Park.
This is a developing situation and the people of Illinois deserve a full, factual accounting of what’s happened today to ensure transparency and accountability.

Among those turning up the temperature on the left, Texas Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D) had joined “The Breakfast Club” podcast the same day and alleged, “[W]e’re seeing that they are unleashing this rogue policing force that if they taught black history, they would know about slave patrols. Because when I look at what they are doing with ICE, it looks like slave patrols.”
“And then you’ve got a Supreme Court that’s like, ‘Yeah, you can pick them up because of how they look or how they sound,” continued the congresswoman. “That sounds like a slave patrol. Like, that is what policing was born of. So yes, we need to teach history.”
Those remarks came only days after the lawmaker had referred to the late Kayla Hamilton, who was murdered by an illegal alien MS-13 gang member after he had sexually assaulted her, as a “random dead person.”
“You take a situation, and then you exploit what has happened to not only that person, but you exploit those families, and you make it a game,” said Crockett during the House Judiciary Committee hearing. “Stop just throwing a random dead person’s name on something for your own political expediency.”

Following the efforts in Chicago, said to be in honor of Katie Abraham and Chloe Polzin who had been killed by an illegal alien in a drunk driving hit-and-run in January, the White House had announced that Memphis, Tennessee would be the next city to benefit from federal resources in combatting violent crime as the murder rate reportedly exceeded that of even Mexico City by about four times.
