Illegal immigration data sparks new push for mass deportations

A war of words has broken out over the consequences and ramifications of former President Joe Biden’s lax border policies.

The policies caused millions of illegal aliens to flood into American communities like the one in Fairfax County, Virginia.

The ramifications of these policies came up as a topic of discussion during a Senate Judiciary Subcommittee hearing in March concerning the county’s own sanctuary-style policies.

Chaired by Rep. Thomas McClintock, the hearing primarily focused on how Fairfax County Prosecutor Stephen Descano has treated illegal aliens — even those with prior rap sheets — with kid gloves, including an illegal alien accused of murdering a young woman.

During the hearing, Cato Institute immigration expert David Bier bizarrely testified that the “way to fix” the county’s problems was to discontinue current President Donald Trump’s “mass deportation.”

“The first step would be to give up on the mass deportation fantasy,” he said, according to Fox News. “About 1-in-5 Fairfax residents is someone who could be deported or who lives with them. It would destroy neighborhoods, rip Americans away from their spouses, parents, friends, families, customers, employees, employers, nurses, nannies, and teachers.”

It was certainly a strange argument, especially considering the focus of the hearing. Not surprisingly, it triggered pushback, including from Sen. John Kennedy:

Pushback also came from Sen. Mike Lee, who used Bier’s strange logic to prove the opposite — that mass deportation is the correct call.

“On the contrary: 20 percent of a wealthy DC suburb being illegal immigrants means we should redouble our efforts to deport them all,” he said to Fox News.

Correct, though unfortunately, the point flew right over Bier’s head.

“What was the senator’s explanation for [his] statement?” Bier asked. “The senator never says why it would benefit the country to harm Fairfax County and the Americans who live there, so there’s nothing to rebut. The senator is wrong to characterize the 20 percent as all illegal immigrants since half of them are just people who live with illegal immigrants, which is precisely my point.”

“Mass deportation would harm those Americans and many others by ripping them away from their spouses, parents, children, friends, family, employees, employers, customers, nurses, nannies, and teachers. I would ask the senator: how many Americans would have to be hurt by mass deportation before he would reconsider his views?” he added.

Reached for comment by Fox News, Lee’s spokesperson responded to Bier’s strange argument by noting that the senator “believes in enforcing US law and deporting illegal immigrants — not making excuses for criminals who hurt Americans.”

Fairfax County, in particular, is infamous for its problems with illegal aliens.

The Trump administration blames Virginia Gov. Abigail Spanberger and her radically leftist agenda.

“The stories of the victims and facts speak for themselves,” a Department of Homeland Security spokesperson told Fox News. “The sanctuary politicians of Fairfax County have blood on their hands.”

DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin personally added that half of the recent murders recorded in Fairfax County were perpetrated by “illegals who shouldn’t have been in our country to begin with.”

“We have politicians who want to protect the criminals, President Trump is still protecting all of our neighborhoods,” he said.

Last month, two illegal alien men who pleaded guilty to murdering a local in 2024 received only paltry sentences of five years each:

“The reason why the two men will be serving five years behind bars for murder is that Fairfax County Commonwealth’s Attorney Steve Descano’s office offered them a generous plea deal. And both men took it,” local station WJLA reported.
