An angry mob menaced federal immigration enforcement officers during a confrontation in a Chicago suburb after a car collided with a Border Patrol vehicle on Halloween, resulting in a scary scene that rapidly escalated.
The incident went down early Friday afternoon in Evanston, IL, when the federal vehicle was being “aggressively tailgated by a red vehicle” that crashed into the government vehicle as agents tried to make a U-turn.
Following the crash, agents were surrounded by the mob, which cursed and spat on them, with the confrontation taking a violent turn when one person “physically assaulted” an agent, grabbing his genitals and squeezing, causing the officer to respond with “defensive strikes” to defend himself, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) said.
“How convenient to leave out that our agent was ASSAULTED by this violent rioter. During an operation at Oakton Street and Ashbury Avenue in Evanston, agents were being aggressively tailgated by a red vehicle. As agents tried to make a U-turn, the red car crashed into Border Patrol,” DHS said in a post to X, sharing a cellphone video posted by a left-wing user that was captioned “ICE Nazi beating a guy in Evanston, IL.”

“A hostile crowd then surrounded agents and their vehicle and began verbally abusing them and spitting on them. One physically assaulted a Border Patrol agent and kicked an agent,” the post read. “As he was being arrested, he grabbed the agent’s genitals and squeezed them. As you know, this is an extremely painful experience for most human beings and justifies certain responses. The agent delivered several defensive strikes to the agitator to free his genitals from the agitator’s vise.”

Three people were reportedly arrested in just the latest example of the dangerous environment fomented by Democrat politicians who have put targets on the backs of federal agents with their incendiary rhetoric, demonizing ICE and CBP as Nazis and fascists.
After the incident, Evanston’s Democratic Mayor Daniel Biss joined local officials at a hastily called news conference during which he assailed federal law enforcement officers, making ig clear that they are not welcome in his city.

“ICE agents have assaulted Evanston residents, beaten people up, grabbed them, abducted them, taking people off the street once again because of the color of their skin,” he said. “It is an outrage.”
“Our message for ICE is simple: Get the hell out of Evanston,” Biss declared.
“What federal agents are doing in Evanston right now is monstrous,” the mayor said, according to Fox 32 Chicago. “On Halloween, when our families are supposed to be out enjoying the very best of our community, ICE and CBP are terrorizing Evanston and the northern suburbs while instilling fear across the Chicagoland area. This is despicable behavior, and everyone involved should be ashamed.”
Biss also accused DHS of being “a bunch of liars” during a Sunday interview with CNN’s Fredricka Whitfield, stating that he’s opening investigations into “violence” committed against “innocent bystanders” by the federal agents.
“They didn’t like being followed, because they don’t like being watched, because they don’t want the world to know what they’re doing,” he said. “They forced this car accident, and then they started literally beating up innocent bystanders.”
“This is lawlessness,” Biss raged. “This is an outrage, and everyone’s got to stand up against it.”
“This incident is not isolated and reflects a growing and dangerous trend of violence and obstruction,” DHS assistant secretary Tricia McLaughlin said in a statement. “Over the past several days, we’ve seen an increase in assaults and deliberate vehicle rammings targeting federal law enforcement during operations. These confrontations highlight the dangers our agents face daily and the escalating aggression toward law enforcement. The violence must end.”
