The left has been losing its collective mind since the purchase of Twitter by billionaire Elon Musk, but one suggestion by horror novelist Stephen King might just take the cake.
Some things are changing on the bird app, and some people have a problem with that. Reports are claiming that those who want to keep their blue verification checkmark may have to pay $20 per month for the privilege. King believes it should be the other way around.
“$20 a month to keep my blue check? F–k that, they should pay me. If that gets instituted, I’m gone like Enron,” King tweeted.
$20 a month to keep my blue check? Fuck that, they should pay me. If that gets instituted, I’m gone like Enron.

When it is pointed out that King has more than enough money to pay the monthly fee, he argued that it was about “principle.”
It ain’t the money, it’s the principle of the thing.

In typical fashion, Musk responded with snark before telling the petulant King that the change will be explained before it is implemented.
I will explain the rationale in longer form before this is implemented. It is the only way to defeat the bots & trolls.

“We need to pay the bills somehow! Twitter cannot rely entirely on advertisers. How about $8?” Musk offered.
But while Musk is out identifying problems and implementing solutions, liberals are whining about him on the very platform he now owns: (** Language warning)
I’m probably the perfect target for this, use Twitter a ton, can afford $20/mo, not particularly anti-Elon, but my reaction is that I’ve generated a ton of valuable free content for Twitter over the years and they can go fuck themselves.https://t.co/8zFEqeArnJ

The thing about Elon charging for blue checks. Their original purpose was to literally verify a public person so their account would be harder to clone. If there’s no blue check, others don’t know if they’re who they say they are. I hate Elon.

Elon Musk thinks I’m gonna pay him $20/month to keep a blue check? Lmaoooooo pic.twitter.com/NILNGfr722

The TWTR blue check is a mark of exclusivity – kind of like an Amex Black card. If everyone who can afford $20/month can suddenly just buy a blue check, it loses its air of exclusivity and many of those who have actually earned it like @stephenking won’t pay for it.

Grimes’s ex-boyfriend wants to charge me $20 a month to keep my blue check? He can shove that check up his ass.
So … Tribel or Counter Social?

The fact that he seriously thinks I would pay a monthly fee for a giant target on my back so I can have the most people replying with slurs or sending me death threats is so hilarious because it shows that he doesn’t understand the Twitter community at all.

of course I’m gonna let my blue check mark go away, the stigma of being a massive dork paying $20 a month for validation is too much for any person to bear
