Incredible scenes have been emerging from Venezuela following the capture of its quasi-president, Nicolas Maduro.
Venezuelan authorities began releasing a “significant” number of political prisoners on January 8, reportedly in response to U.S. demands. The Venezuelan government framed the release as a “unilateral gesture” to “seek peace,” according to numerous reports.
President Trump praised the move as a “very important and smart gesture” as it aligns closely with his previous demands and public statements.
Clips of the emotional scenes showed up on X, where they generated a lot of buzz and goodwill:

This makes me tear up, all these people that haven’t see their families in years.
This is incredible that it’s happening, they should’ve never been there in the first place.

Happy to see this. Can’t believe that liberals in the U.S. are still whining about freedom in Venezuela

The following post in Portuguese is translated to say: “Thanks to Musk, the world is seeing these images because the internet is completely free in Venezuela, and this prevents the regime from dodging the disclosures.”
Graças a Musk O mundo está vendo essas imagens porque a internet está totalmente gratuita na Venezuela e isso impede o regime de burlar as divulgações
