Independent caller goes off on ‘evil’ and ‘anti-black’ Biden during live C-SPAN discussion

An irate C-SPAN caller unloaded on former President Joe Biden during a segment on finances.

The moment occurred during a Washington Journal segment that asked viewers to weigh in on the question “Are you better or worse off financially than in 2024?” A woman identified as “Barbara from Michigan” called in to blast the former president as “evil” and “anti-black.”

Watch:

“I just want to say, I’m black, I’m retired, I was a former state social worker in Michigan in three different Michigan counties, including Detroit. Most of these people have no idea what they’re talking about. Bottom line is, our economy was in horrible shape under Biden. Biden was one of the most racist, evil, anti-Black people in the history of this country since Woodrow Wilson. He hated Black people, and the media did not report it,” Barbara explained.

“Talk about the economy — you ought to be in Michigan. Because the illegal immigrants in Michigan are doing very, very well,” she continued. “They’ve got houses in upper-income neighborhoods… purchased by Michigan taxpayers, and it doesn’t get reported. They have got cars — you can go to Costco, you can go to Sam’s Club, they have all new cars, leased by Michigan taxpayers. The houses, all kinds of communities, were built for Syrian Muslims when Obama was in office, did not get reported.”

Host Mimi Geerges then asked Barbara to talk a little bit about her career in social work, but she wasn’t done ranting about the direction of her state, and the country in general.

“I work in Detroit; I worked at the ports. I worked with people on welfare. My first job, I started out in the city of Detroit, in intake, taking in applications when people needed help. We had different policies coming out of the State Department,” she said. “And I am not for or against Donald Trump; I and for people who have policies that work. People think the socialists are going to do it. Well, I grew up next to Dearborn. We are in bad shape if the socialists and the communists and the Muslims get into office. First thing they want to do — we think we lost some rights, we don‘t have any rights.”

“What rights are you worried about losing? Which rights are you worried about losing?” Geerges wondered.

“Freedom of speech. The Christians in Dearborn, it does not get reported anymore; some media — I will not say it is the only reason, but they do not report it. And why they don’t, we got different opinions. You do not see the mayhem that’s going on in the streets of Dearborn. The mayor said to the Christians, ‘If you don‘t like it, this is a Muslim city now, it’s our city, get out. This is what you’re gonna see,” Barbara noted.

In 2025, Dearborn Mayor Abdullah H. Hammoud told a local resident that he is “not welcome” in the city amid concerns about signs honoring Arab American News publisher Osama Siblani.

“He’s a promoter of Hezbollah and Hamas,” said Edward “Ted” Barham, a Christian. “He talks about how the blood of the martyrs irrigates the land of Palestine … whether we are in Michigan and whether we are in Yemen. Believe me, everyone should fight within his means. They will fight with stones, others will fight with guns, others fight with planes, drones, and rockets.”

The man argued that putting up street signs in Siblani’s name was equivalent to establishing “Hezbollah Street or Hamas Street” signs. While the city tried to argue that they had no control over the signs, which were put up by the county, Barham pointed out that they sit on Dearborn streets.

The best suggestion I have for you is to not drive on Warren Avenue or to close your eyes while you’re doing it. His name is up there and I spoke at a ceremony celebrating it because he’s done a lot for this community,” the mayor advised, following Barham’s remarks, adding that he thought the citizen was a “bigot,” a “racist,” and “an islamophobe.”

“Although you live here, I want you to know as mayor, you are not welcome here. And the day you move out of the city will be the day that I launch a parade celebrating the fact that you moved out of this city,” he spat.
