The Instagram account of the group Gays Against Groomers was temporarily suspended on Wednesday for no clear and discernible reason.
That morning around 10:00 am, the group announced via X that their Instagram account had been suspended and would become permanently suspended within 180 days without a successful appeal.
No reason was offered for the suspension.

BREAKING: Instagram has just SUSPENDED our account with 360,000 followers.
This comes just weeks after GLAAD and Media Matters’ pressure campaign calling on them to do so. Instagram gave us no reason and we had no content violations. This was a direct attack because of their… pic.twitter.com/VeBuHNiDjg

We have now been banned by THIRTEEN platforms in a little over a year. We will not be silenced. They haven’t been able to stop us yet and they never will. We’re over the target and it’s clear they’re terrified of our voices speaking out against this evil agenda.

In their tweets, the group also revealed that they’d been banned from a total of 13 platforms, including Instagram.
News of the group’s Instagram suspension inspired a flood of tweets expressing solidarity with Gays Against Groomers and slamming Instagram.

That’s crazy. Instagram wants to censor anyone that speaks up against the trans agenda being pushed on kids.

Instagram needs to ban themselves, it’s quite possibly the most toxic thing anyone under the age of 21 can engage in.

When you go so woke you ban people for speaking out against those who groom children. This is absolutely disgusting and shameful of @instagram

Imagine suspending an account fighting to prevent minors from being exploited, sexualized and mutilated..
tells you EVERYTHING you need to know about where META stands when it comes to children

Thankfully, Instagram reversed its suspension of the group by 3:00 p.m. that afternoon.
“UPDATE: Instagram has RESTORED our account after we appealed and raised hell about them suspending us this morning! Thank you to everyone who helped get the word out. And to all of our haters, of which there are many, cope and seethe. We will never be silenced!!” Gays Against Groomers announced in a 3:14 pm update.

However, the hatemongers at the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) were not pleased by the group’s Instagram account being restored.
“Meta’s temporary suspension of the ‘Gays Against Groomers’ Instagram account today, and of the ‘Gays Against Groomers’ Facebook account for three days last month seems to indicate that the company has to some degree determined that the account is in violation of Meta’s Community Standards, which state very clearly that ‘we don’t allow hate speech,'” a spokesperson said to The Advocate magazine.
“All social media companies should enforce their own policies. All of the platforms have policies which clearly prohibit anti-LGBTQ hate content, and such policies exist for a reason. To protect all users from being targeted by or exposed to content that diminishes their safety or that negatively impacts the usability of the platform,” they added.
What the hatemongering alliance wants is for Gays Against Groomers to be permanently banned by Instagram, Facebook (Meta), and every other social media outlet. The official Pride UK X account also seeks the same:

In fact, GLAAD has for a while now been working with other hatemongers, like those at Media Matters, to try and silence Gays Against Groomers.
Furthermore, Gays Against Groomers’ tweets note that their Instagram suspension came “just weeks after GLAAD and Media Matters’ pressure campaign calling on them to do so.”
In a statement to The Advocate, an individual “close to ongoing discussions between [the hatemongering] groups and Meta” guessed that Gays Against Groomers’ Instagram account was ultimately restored because of politics.
“They speculated that while Meta’s trust and safety team likely found the group to violate the platform’s guidelines, an intervention might have come from the company’s political team to avert the scrutiny of Republicans in Congress, who have been critical of social media companies for purportedly suppressing conservative voices,” according to The Advocate.
