President Donald J. Trump is, if nothing else, unconventional.
In yet another unprecedented move, the 47th president of the United States said that he plans to watch the Supreme Court arguments that will rule over his tariffs in person.
Trump called the arguments that will determine whether he has authority to impose tariffs under the International Economic Powers Act “one of the most important cases in the history of our country.”
And Trump intends to be there on November 5th.
MAJOR BREAKING NEWS: President Trump says that he will GO to the Supreme Court to WATCH their ruling on his Tariff Power.
“That is why I’m going down to the Supreme Court to WATCH.”
“I have not done that, but I think it is ONE of the MOST IMPORTANT Cases EVER Brought!” pic.twitter.com/UyfLkyYJIm

While Democrats will unleash predictable backlash and pearl-clutching over the announcement, plenty of X users weighed in and criticized Congress for not backing the president.
When Congress is weak and doesn’t stand up for what it is in charge of, then the executive can attack the courts. What a fucking shit storm. If Congress agrees trumps tariffs then they will stand. Full stop. Yet Congress is so very weak. It can’t even solve a shut down.

This is amazing. If the Court rules against tariffs, we’re going to backslide into Bidenomics and eggs that cost nine dollars a dozen.

It’s a little embarrassing to have Trump set tariffs via an online post, but it seems like Congress gave this power away over the years… i guess we will have to wait and find out.

Executive branch doesn’t control the purse or make laws. 100% unconstitutional

The Constitution is crystal clear. Tariffs are the purview of the Congress under their Article 1 powers.

Interesting move! Watching history in the making—like watching a soap opera, but with economic policy instead of dramatic love triangles. Can’t wait to see how this plot twist unfolds!

I would like to watch him watching…though I’m not sure you can watch a Supreme Court ruling…maybe watching the arguments.
