Trump aims IRS at Soros and the Left’s piggy bank

The Trump administration intends to drastically revamp the IRS to make it easier to criminally investigate nefarious left-wing groups, particularly those founded by leftist billionaire George Soros.

The effort is being led by Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, who’s been ordered by President Donald Trump to refer groups like Soros’ Open Society Foundations (OSF) to the Justice Department for investigation.

OSF is a part of Soros’ sprawling network of dark money groups that have for years helped fund the most disastrous policies and politicians, and also foment political violence against conservatives.

“Bessent has also been directed to use the Treasury’s terrorism and financial-intelligence office to examine groups’ financial flows and try to trace any illicit funding streams,” according to the Wall Street Journal.

“The effort … coincides with a larger administration effort to probe left-leaning groups for helping to finance organizations that the president says are creating anarchy in Democratic-led cities,” the Journal notes.

As part of this effort, Bessent has tasked former IRS whistleblower Gary Shapley with creating a list of persons and groups to investigate.

Appearing on “The Charlie Kirk Show” this Tuesday, Bessent traced this newfound effort back to Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk’s murder and assassination in early September.

“I will tell you that after 9/11, Treasury became the driving force behind tracking down the networks of terrorist organizations, how they were financed, how this could have happened on U.S. soil with these international terrorist organizations,” he said.

“Where did the money come from? Who were the ultimate funders? And that was on the international side. I will tell you that Charlie’s death is like a domestic 9/11,” he added.

He went on to talk about how the violent left-wing extremism being seen all across the country bears similar hallmarks that point to them all being funded by the same nefarious organizations.

“When you see these groups where all the signs match, they have hundreds of the same umbrellas that they’re using after they cause the mayhem, they have the same lasers that they’re using to blind our police force — how are they constructed? Because this takes a lot of money,” he said.

He added that the IRS has “started to compile lists” and “put together networks.”

“We don’t know how much of the support is coming in from overseas,” he said. “We don’t know how much is being supported by U.S. nonprofits … but this is mission-critical for us now.”

“Just as after 9/11, Osama bin Laden, the ultimate culprit, was captured, we are operationalizing this here at Treasury, and we are going to track down who is responsible for this,” he concluded.

One upcoming example of a seemingly funded event is the so-called “No Kings” protest scheduled for this Saturday.

Speaking on Fox News’ “Hannity” this Wednesday, Sen. Ted Cruz said he’s introduced legislation to target the protest’s funders.

“Follow the money, cut off the money,” he said. “You look at this ‘No Kings’ rally — there’s considerable evidence that George Soros and his network is behind funding these rallies, which may well turn into riots.”

He added that he’s “introduced legislation that would allow DOJ to use RICO to prosecute the money that is funding these ‘No Kings’ protests.”

All these efforts are supported by Alliance for IRS Accountability President and CEO Chuck Flint.

“Nonprofits routinely call to obstruct ICE investigations and other Trump administration actions they deem undemocratic,” he wrote for the Washington Examiner this week. “Organized rioters are often dressed in black tactical outfits with masks, Antifa markings, and carry weapons.”

“The IRS can be the tip of the spear in dismantling these networks. They should immediately strip the tax-exempt status of groups tied to political violence and domestic terrorism. Non-profits facilitating such events are operating outside the mission for which they were incorporated,” he added.
