Iran hoists ‘red flag of revenge’ after ayatollah is taken out

Iran’s oppressive leaders are vowing revenge after the death of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in U.S.-Israel strikes.

In a sign of defiance, a “red flag of revenge” was raised above a mosque in the city of Qom, according to The Statesman,

“According to several media reports, a red banner, which symbolises justice and revenge in Shiite tradition, was seen atop the Jamkaran Mosque,” the outlet reported.

In addition to Khamanei’s death in the strike, his daughter, son-in-law, grandchild, and a daughter-in-law were also killed, as were the Commander of the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC), General Mohammad Pakpour, and Secretary of Iran’s Defence Council, Rear Admiral Ali Shamkhani.

“The action is an indication that Iran is planning revenge, and this has been echoed in Mashhad and Isfahad (sic) mosques. The use of the flag resonated symbolically, as reportedly more than 500,000 people were present at the public gatherings,” the Sunday Guardian reported.

“According to Shia, a red flag refers to the unjust bloodshed and demands revenge. It is increased by foreign aggression or martyrdom, experts observe. The political and spiritual importance of the flag was manifested in the airstrikes that were followed by chants against the United States and Israel at the Hazrat Masoumeh Shrine,” the outlet added.

Iran’s Supreme National Security Council Secretary Larijani claimed the US and Israel have “broken the heart of Iranians,” vowing the country will now “burn their hearts.”

“This incident is a very bitter incident for all the Iranian nation. It means that the U.S. and Zionists, through their actions, have actually created a situation for Iran and the Iranian nation that must be said they have broken the heart of the Iranian people; we also will burn their heart,” Larijani reportedly said.
