The Biden administration unbelievably allowed 120 asylum seekers to be smuggled into the U.S. by an ISIS-linked smuggler.
The smuggler, a Turkish man with links to ISIS, brought over a dozen migrants from Uzbekistan and other countries into the U.S., according to CNN.
The only good news is that once the Biden administration realized that the migrants had been led in (and accepted at the border) by an ISIS-linked man, they jumped into action (better late than never?)
“The incident kicked off a flurry of urgent meetings among top national security and administration officials at a time when Republicans have hammered Biden on the security of the southern border heading into the 2024 campaign,” CNN reported Wednesday.
“Staff on key congressional committees have been informed of the incident, according to two sources familiar with the matter,” according to the network.
Meanwhile, FBI officials are “working to ‘identify and assess‘ all of the individuals who gained entry to the United States … and they are closely scrutinizing a number of the migrants as possible criminal threats.”
Not that the public has much faith in their ability to track down the migrants:
Well they supposedly couldn’t find out who’s cocaine was at the White House so I’m pretty sure they’re not gonna find these guys just sayin

If they ain’t at Mar-a-largo then the FBI will never find them.

The whole incident traces back to earlier this year when a group of Uzbekistani migrants requested asylum at the border and were initially screened by the Department of Homeland Security.
“There was no information in any of the intelligence community’s databases that raised any red flags and the people were all released into the US pending a court date,” CNN notes.
Only later did the FBI realize that they’d made it to the border with the help of someone affiliated with ISIS — at which point they reportedly “rushed” to try to find the migrants and pry into their backgrounds.
“The bureau also worked with Turkish authorities, who arrested the smuggler and other members of his network at the behest of the US, and has subsequently obtained information from him to aid its investigation,” according to CNN.
At the moment, there is “no indication … that any of the individuals facilitated by this network have a connection to a foreign terrorist organization or are engaged in plotting a terrorist attack in the United States,” National Security Council spokesperson Adrienne Watson told CNN.
According to Watson, ever since intelligence officials figured out the ISIS connection, Homeland Security officials have been detaining and expediting the removal of new migrants (not the previous ones) who show up at the border and “fit the profile associated with individuals who were facilitated by this network.”

As for the ISIS-linked smuggler, CNN notes that he doesn’t appear to be a direct member of the group but instead more like a contractor who may have personal sympathies for the terrorist organization.
“The intelligence community now believes it is unlikely that he was assisting these individuals at the behest of ISIS. Most are believed to be seeking a better life in the United States,” according to CNN.
While this story appears to have turned out OK, the problem is the administration’s blasé attitude about it. Indeed, CNN notes that Biden administration officials for the most part think everything that happened proves that their immigration policies work.
Intelligence officials seem to disagree.
“Some law enforcement and intelligence officials privately expressed concerns that an unusual increase in the number of migrants from Central Asia, a region that isn’t known to be a major source of refugees, didn’t spark more investigation by US border authorities,” according to CNN.
No kidding …
Members of the public are for their part not surprised. This is, after all, the veritably open-border Biden administration:
This couldn’t happen if the border was closed!#FJB

So dumb. It’s their own fault for the border being wide open.

No one knows who or what is coming across Biden’s open border…

Another Biden disaster 3 years from now these terrorists will do something to America. They are hiding all over in every state right now with the wide open border

“With Help of ISIS-Linked Smuggler”
What did he do, hold the door open for them?
I thought the US gov had already done that.

The Department of Homeland Security meanwhile released a statement to CNN claiming its “counterterrorism, and law enforcement partners screen and vet individuals prior to their entry to the United States to prevent anyone known to pose a threat from entering the country.”
“DHS continually monitors all available sources of intelligence and information related to potential threats and if any new information emerges, we work closely with the FBI and other partners to take appropriate action,” DHS added.
Yet, as noted by critics, none of this would have happened were the border secure …
