‘It’s a crime’: Whistleblower reveals migrants in NYC hotels throw out astounding amount of food daily

While an individual might leave a third-world country, that doesn’t mean that the third-world standards they are accustomed to will exit as readily.

Illegal immigrants being housed at a large Manhattan hotel, where New York City is reportedly paying daily rates as high as $500 per room, are reportedly shunning the food being provided to them.

That’s according to a whistleblower who spoke to the New York Post, saying nearly a ton of food is being thrown in the trash daily — food provided by taxpayers.

Hotel employee Felipe Rodriguez said the 1,300-room, four-star Row NYC hotel near Times Square was tossing food because the migrants would rather secretly cook their own meals on dangerous hot plates. Photos show garbage bags full of sandwiches and bagels awaiting disposal, the newspaper reported.

“It’s a crime to be throwing out so much food,” Rodriguez said, estimating that at least 40 percent of the food supplied to migrants gets thrown out.

“How do I know that? Because the sanitation guys go floor by floor every day picking up the trash,” he said. “Before, it used to be something like six, seven bags in the back landing of each floor. Now they’re picking up 15, 20 bags.

“Anything [the migrants] don’t consume is in those bags, and they’re heavy. I weighed one of the bags full of sandwiches one time and it weighed 60 pounds.”

Not that the illegal immigrants are shunning libations — according to Rodriguez, the photos show a hotel room littered with empty Corona beer cans and bottles following a wild World Cup viewing party in November.

The whistleblower said the viewing party was in a room whose occupant “gave the key to a cousin” while she “was in the Bronx, hanging out.” A fight broke out over the match and Rodriguez said a man was left with a “big knot on his head.”

He also had a short video clip of two female migrants fighting outside the hotel during New Year’s Eve festivities last week. Men can be seen in the clip holding what appear to be beer cans as they try to separate the hair-pulling women as they tumble into the street, the Post reported.

“It was a total sh*t show,” anonymous NYPD cops told the paper.

In covering the story, ABC7 New York reported that there is security at the hotel and that  National Guard troops are stationed in the lobby.

Rodriguez, 57, has worked at the 1,300-room hotel in 2017 and said there was a shocking change when Mayor Eric Adams’ administration began using the establishment as a “Humanitarian Response and Relief Center.”

“What changed in October was dramatic,” he said. “There are some nice migrants in that hotel looking for that American dream, that second chance to make it in society. But there are a lot of migrants there that are causing chaos. We have a lot of fights, a lot of drugs, a lot of sexual harassment abuse.”

An NYPD source confirmed that cops have responded to a string of domestic incidents at the hotel.

There is also a list “of people that are supposed to be quarantined — for COVID, chickenpox, whatever it is,” Rodriguez explained, before adding, “Nobody supervises those people. Once they get bored, they flee. We don’t know who’s sick and who’s not sick.”

“We are in an environment that is hostile, violent, and not safe anymore,” he added.
