An emotional rant by an Arizona woman sparked countless responses on social media where users debated whether she’s a victim of the economy or is to blame for her circumstances.
Jourdan Skirha shared her struggle on TikTok where she lamented her current status as someone with three jobs who still can’t make ends meet, despite making “six figures.”
“Does anyone else feel like they’re absolutely f***ing drowning financially?” the 29-year-old who said she has worked since the age of 15 said in the video filmed in a car and posted just after Christmas.
“I have three jobs. And I’m still f***ing struggling,” Skirha, who lives in Scottsdale, Arizona, continued. “I’m just getting myself farther and farther into credit card debt, because I don’t have enough after the first of the month to avoid using it. It just isn’t working,”

Wiping away tears, she explained how she needed to get a second, then third job to get by financially, though she did not elaborate on what the jobs are.
“Full-time job, not doing it. Got a second job, it’s barely doing it. The third job? Hit or miss if I even get paid on time. I feel like I’m drowning and I don’t know what to do,” she said, going on to recall having “all this cash” when she worked as a server while admitting that industry may not be doing okay under the current economy either.
“I have seriously considered quitting my full-time good job to go back to serving, because at least I can… use my personality and try to get more money than minimum wage or what an ‘entry-level’ job pays people nowadays,” she said.
“It’s f***ing sick,” she sighed.
She lamented not being able to attend friends’ weddings or parties due to limited finances and pondered whether she should get a boyfriend just to be able to split living costs.
“My credit used to be f***ing phenomenal,” she remembered. “Credit card bill? Paid it all off, every single time. It’s not like that. It can’t be like that anymore.”
The post generated more than 22,000 comments with many echoing Skirha’s complaints.
“Who else has been personally victimized by 2023?” asked one TikTok user.
“This is the most money I’ve ever made in my adult life, and the brokest I’ve ever been. You’re not alone,” another said.
The video generated responses on X as well.
I have 4 jobs. If I could figure out how not to sleep I would have 5

My 22 year old college student works 2 jobs serving. Prior to May 2023, she would bring in 200/day and nights were more. It just stopped nd she sees maybe $50/day 75/night. It’s called BIDENOMICS and we warned yall this would happen

I keep trying to live within my means but every month that means living a smaller and smaller life. It used to be I saw people with a Berkin Bag and laughed at the extravagance. Now, I see someone with McDonald’s and I sigh because it’s out of my reach. McDonald’s is too…

Some on social media, however, were more critical of the 29-year-old, suggesting she should cut out luxuries like salon appointments and getting her nails done.
If you’re single, have three jobs and you still can’t pay your bills, either…
1) You are living somewhere you shouldn’t like Manhattan or San Fran
2) You have way too much house and/or car
3) You’re extremely financially irresponsible.— John Hawkins (@johnhawkinsrwn) December 29, 2023
Hopefully you are not spending money on lip fillers and manicures if you have no money

I looked up her Tiktok and Instagram. She seems to be able to go out to restaurants and travel (she’s had at least 4 documented trips this year just on her Instagram).
It’s being financially irresponsible in this case.

Skin treatments, fake nails, jewelry, newer car, we can see she spends money on non-necessities that her great grandparents wouldn’t even have considered
The other half of the equation tho is the runaway inflation caused by big government spending

Skirha appeared to respond to the critics, defending herself in a follow-up post the next day.

“I can’t believe that someone said that, like, getting a haircut is a luxury thing,” she said.
“The one thing I’ll never give up personally is getting my nails done, because I have been doing that my entire life after college and I was able to pay for it,” she explained. “It doesn’t really matter cause it makes me happy.”
She shared that she only gets lip filler “once a year” and Botox maybe “maybe three times a year.”
For those suggesting she move back in with her parents, Skirha shot down the thought, saying she could not and that it was “a story for maybe another time.”
