‘It’s not hypocrisy… it’s hierarchy’: Bongino pulls no punches, blasts media over Zeldin attack coverage

Conservative radio and TV show host Dan Bongino slammed the left-wing establishment press for their quiet coverage of the almost-deadly attack Thursday on New York Rep. Lee Zeldin, a Republican.

Speaking on Fox News’ “Fox & Friends Weekend” this Saturday, he argued that if a Democrat congressman or congresswoman had almost been stabbed to death by a psychopath, the story would be plastered on the front page of every paper.

But, he continued, this isn’t an example of media hypocrisy so much as it is of media hierarchy. Bongino explained that because the media is left-wing, they prioritize their news coverage using a hierarchy that favors the left and disfavors the right.

That’s why the Russian collusion delusion hoax and conspiracy theory received far more coverage than its eventual debunking. That’s similarly also why the one-day Jan. 6th riot continues to receive so much more coverage than the deadly BLM riots.

“If this was a Democrat candidate, [it’d] be on the front page of every paper. And it’s not hypocrisy, folks. It’s hierarchy. The hierarchy on the left is we’re in charge, you are not. If there’s a narrative that helps us gain more power, we’ll talk about it everyday,” Bongino said.

“And if it’s not, go fill in the blank yourself. They really don’t care. It’s a hierarchy. It’s not in any way hypocrisy to them. They don’t see it that way. They’re like, conservatives are crazy, they deserve it, the ends justify the means, and we don’t care.”

And when they do care, it’s only because they’ve found a way to attack the right:

Bongino continued by contrasting this “ends justify the means” attitude of the left with the fair and impartial attitude of the right.

“I have said on the networks, if you’ve heard it before, forgive me, but we conservatives, real conservatives, we view God-given rights as paramount for everyone, even our political opponents. Notice I said ‘God-given,’ not state-given. They’re God-given rights. Therefore, it is my moral, ethical, and constitutional republic-allied obligation to defend your God-given rights and not attack you and do crazy things,” he said, describing the conservative view.

“The far left does not see it that way. They see the state and authoritarianism as their only way forward. And if violence is the way to get there, then hell, so be it. The ends justify the means. That’s why they don’t care. AOC thought it was funny that Brett Kavanaugh almost got killed. She was talking about on her Twitter account that, ‘Oh, his dinner was interrupted and he missed his soufflé.’ This is after the guy showed up to his house with zip ties and a gun. She thought this was like, hilarious. So this permissive atmosphere is hierarchy for them. We’re in charge — you’re not.”

What specifically happened was that, days after an armed lunatic was arrested outside Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh’s home, a mob of left-wing radicals harassed the justice outside a restaurant in Washington, D.C.

In response to the harassment, the entire left, including far-left Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, giggled and laughed. Ocasio-Cortez’s behavior in particular was very telling because she has a history of throwing a fit whenever anyone simply challenges her.

Four years ago, she accused prominent conservative commentator Ben Shapiro of “cat-calling” her after he simply challenged her to a debate. Yet in response to prominent conservatives facing genuine harassment, she laughs.

To be fair, Ocasio-Cortez admittedly became the victim of actual harassment herself earlier this month when a far-right activist cat-called her outside the U.S. Capitol. In response, Ocasio-Cortez justifiably threw a fit. But she did so without displaying even an iota of introspection over how she’d behaved only days earlier vis-a-vis Kavanaugh.

This hierarchy of concerns — or double standards, you might call them — tends to run parallel between Democrats and their media allies. That’s why Ocasio-Cortez’s cat-calling incident received far more media attention than Kavanaugh’s attempted murder. It’s likewise why the establishment press’ coverage of the attack on Zeldin has been so muted.

“After minimal coverage Friday morning of the violent assassination attempt of New York Republican Congressman Lee Zeldin as he campaigned for governor, ABC’s World News Tonight and CBS Evening News downplayed the attack with the latter calling the weapon just a keychain. And NBC Nightly News ignored the attack altogether to focus on lost luggage at airports,” according to NewsBusters.

“During Good Morning America, ABC gave the attack 58 seconds. Seemingly not wanting to be outdone, World News Tonight decided to cut their coverage by more than half, with fill-in anchor Whit Johnson giving it just 24 seconds.”

It’s because of this obvious hierarchy of concerns that conservative media exists. Prior to its inception in the late 1980s, the priorities of the left always reigned supreme. Thanks to conservative media, those days are now in the past.
