‘It’s very clear’: Jean-Pierre insists Dems have delivered ‘lower costs’, warns GOP ‘will take that all away’

White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre is widely seen as being in over her head in her role, but being the spokesperson for President Joe Biden is a tall task. At the same time, a disregard for truth and reality doesn’t help her cause much.

On Monday, Jean-Pierre claimed Biden and Democrats had delivered “lower costs” to American families rocked by 40-year-high inflation, along with a “bottom up, middle out” economy, and went so far as to suggest that if Republicans retake the House in two weeks, as they are all but certain to do, that they will “take that all away.”

Associated Press White House reporter Colleen Long referenced the deadly shooting at a St. Louis high school to serve up this softball: “You mentioned the St. Louis shooting. And the president, just a little while ago, was talking about how he’d like to pass an assault weapons ban. What’s the way forward if the Democrats don’t control the House?”

Jean-Pierre referenced Biden’s efforts 30 years ago “to ban assault weapons” and said he would continue to work on a bipartisan bill to address gun violence.

“You ask me here at the podium, ‘What is the president’s message to Americans?’ The — his message to Americans is: There’s a choice. There is going to be a choice that Americans are going to have to make, without me getting into elections or getting into politics from here,” she added.

And that’s when Jean-Pierre waded into la-la land.

“But it’s very clear: If you think about what Democrats want to do, when — if you think about what congressional Democrats and this President have already done — lower costs,” she said. “If you think about what we’re doing with our economic policies — creating jobs, making an economy that is — that doesn’t leave anybody behind but builds it from the bottom up and the middle out, that is so incredibly important. And what congressional Republicans want to do is take that all away.”

In 2020, when Democrats took control of the White House and both chambers of Congress, inflation was at 1.4 percent and is now at 8.2 percent.

The party appears to have settled on a response to inflation, claiming it’s a global phenomenon and that inflation in the U.S. is lower than in many other countries.

Speaker Nancy Pelosi raised a few eyebrows Sunday when she said on CBS’ “Face the Nation,” that “The fact is, when I hear people talk about inflation… we have to change that subject. Inflation is a global phenomenon.”

“The fight is not about inflation, it’s about the cost of living,” she would add, assuming the American people are stupid enough not to see through the wordplay.
