Ivanka Trump explains how her wellness routine is fascinating in its simplicity

The lifestyles of the rich and the famous have always been intriguing, but Ivanka Trump’s wellness routine is fascinating in its simplicity.

You’d expect people with an abundance of money to spend a lot of it maintaining their health and youthfulness, but the daughter of President-elect Donald Trump has a style all of her own. In a rare podcast interview, Trump told listeners of the “Skinny Confidential” podcast that her family has recently gotten into jiu-jitsu at the behest of 13-year-old Arabella.

“It is good for everyone,” she said, revealing that her husband Jared Kushner and their 11 and 8-year-old sons also participate. The love for the martial art was spurred when Arabella wanted to be able to defend herself. Ivanka compared the training to meditation.

“It’s almost like a moving meditation because the movements are so micro. It’s like three-dimensional chess,” she said, adding that she found it “fun” and believes it “combines physical movements and philosophy in an amazing way.”

She admitted that she’s never been a fan of going to the gym, and prefers to get her workouts from sports instead.

“I love sports.  love surfing but that’s a recent thing. I love racquet sports.”

“I want to resistance train. I want to eat well. So knowing I want to do those things and knowing those are best done for me in the morning, that’s … part of my day and how I choose to allocate and prioritize my time,” she added, noting that she doesn’t really have a regimen and gets most of her exercise from “going on a weekly run with Jared on Saturday mornings or chasing the kids around the house in the evenings.”

She also pointed out that she noticed a change in her body when she went from yoga and Pilates to resistance and weight training.

“I got stronger. I got leaner.”

Her workouts are nothing too strenuous, she says, describing her lifts as “pushes, pulls, hinges [and] deadlifts” or in her own words, “simple stuff.”

She gets all the protein she needs for her sweat sessions from shakes with creatine, banana, cacao, Perfect Amino protein and electrolytes.
