Ivanka Trump rubs shoulders with Zuckerberg, Gates at elite $120M party for India billionaire’s son

Elitism extravagance at its finest had some of the world’s richest and most influential rubbing shoulders without pretense as part of a $120 million celebration.

Setting aside vaunted concerns about the climate or any other cause du jour under the banner of ESG packaged to pad their portfolio, wealth and power were put on full display over the weekend in Jamnagar, India as the children of two billionaires celebrated their upcoming nuptials.

With a guest list that included the likes of Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg, Microsoft’s Bill Gates, Blackrock’s Larry Fink and Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai, the youngest son of Asia’s richest man, Reliance Industries head Mukesh Ambani, enjoyed a three-day gala in anticipation of his July wedding to Radhika Merchant.

According to Time, the party for the 28-year-old Ambani and his 29-year-old fiancée, daughter to billionaire Viren Merchant, included a guest list of 1,200 that, in addition to some of Bollywood’s top-billing, also included former Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper and former Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd.

In addition to being a guest at the celebration that had 65 chefs preparing over 2,500 dishes, Grammy Award winner Rihanna was also said to have been handed a seven-figure check to perform a 90-minute set at the $120 million party.

In a picture alongside husband Jared Kushner, former first daughter Ivanka Trump took to Instagram at the first night of the event and wrote, “First night in India ~ a magical evening in Everland! Sending warm wishes to Anant and Radhika for endless happiness and love as they embark on this wonderful adventure together.”

Another expected attendee for the weekend-long party was Walt Disney Company CEO Bob Iger as only days earlier Mukesh Ambani’s Reliance Industries had announced an $8.5 billion merger with the House of Mouse pertaining to their Indian media assets.

According to Reuters, the celebratory weekend followed a communal dinner serving 51,000 villagers on Wednesday and would include a trip to a rescue center where over 2,000 animals were kept.

Additionally, the high-powered guests, who have been frequently criticized for chartering private jets to global summits to tell average people how they should live their lives, were afforded the luxury of charter shuttle jets from New Delhi and Mumbai en route to the celebration.

Signaling the degree to which the elites would have to slum it during their weekend in India, after promises of on-call hair stylists, Indian wear drapists and makeup artists, guests were reportedly cautioned in advance to limit their expectations for prompt laundry services. “Any clothes given to seam (press) will be returned within 3 hours…expecting or requesting anything quicker than that may not be feasible.”

Previously, the 2018 wedding of Ambani’s daughter Isha had been described as a “mini-Davos summit” with guests that had included former Secretaries of State Hillary Clinton and John Kerry among others.
