Recognized legal scholar Alan Dershowitz is still being ostracized by the hoity-toity residents of Martha’s Vineyard for defending former President Donald Trump.
Appearing on Newsmax this Friday, he explained to host Greta Van Susteren that his books have been banned from the island community’s annual book fair.
“A mile from here, Martha’s Vineyard has its book fair. I am probably the man who’s written more books than any person in the history of Martha’s Vineyard. And I probably sold more books than anybody who’s speaking at the book fair. But I’ve been canceled. My books are not allowed to be sold at the Martha’s Vineyard Chilmark book fair because I defended Donald Trump,” he said.
“Until I defended Donald Trump, my books were featured every year at the book fair. I couldn’t care less about that. I still sell thousands of books. But you’d think the people of Martha’s Vineyard would want to make sure that a book fair doesn’t become a book unfair in which people are canceled because of exercising Sixth Amendment and First Amendment rights. Shame on the Chilmark and Martha’s Vineyard book fair,” he added.
Listen:
The book fair is currently being held between Friday, Aug. 4th and Sunday, Aug. 6th on the grounds of the Chilmark Community Center.
As for Dershowitz’s ostracization, this is an ongoing affair that started years ago when he began defending then-President Trump from the left’s impeachment attempts.
Despite being a lifelong liberal who voted for former President Barack Hussein Obama twice and later for former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, his defense of Trump made him a pariah among his Martha’s Vineyard neighbors.
Speaking on Fox News back in 2018 about this ostracization, he referred to it as a modern form of McCarthyism.
“I never thought I would see McCarthyism come to Martha’s Vineyard, but I have. I wonder if the professor who refuses to listen to anything I have to say also treats his students similarly. Would he listen to a student who actively supported Trump? What about one who simply supported his civil liberties?” he said.
He was presumably referencing his neighbors, one of whom was evidently a professor.
Dershowitz continued by stressing that he himself was not and had never been a Trump supporter — and that all he’d been doing was offering up legal, valid defenses of the then president’s civil liberties.
“I am not a Trump supporter nor am I a member of the Trump administration. But I have defended Trump’s civil liberties, along with those of all Americans, just as I would have defended Hillary Clinton’s civil liberties had she been elected,” he said.
But it has never mattered to the elitist residents of Martha’s Vineyard, for whom politics is a zero-sum game: Either you’re with them or against them. And as far as they’re concerned, Dershowitz is against them just because he dared to defend Trump’s rights.

Dershowitz once came face to face with the island’s notorious bigotry in 2021 when left-wing Hollywood powerhouse Larry David, a former close friend of his, harangued him at a convenience store.
Sources who spoke with Page Six claimed that when the two ran into each other, Dershowitz tried speaking with David but was rebuffed. Why? Because Dershowitz had committed the grave sin of treating both Trump and former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo like human beings.
Here’s how the altercation played out, according to Page Six:
Dershowitz: “We can still talk, Larry.”
David: “No. No. We really can’t. I saw you. I saw you with your arm around Pompeo! It’s disgusting!”
Dershowitz: “He’s my former student [at Harvard Law]. I greet all of my former students that way. I can’t greet my former students?”
David: “It’s disgusting. Your whole enclave — it’s disgusting. You’re disgusting!”
David then began walking away, prompting a frustrated Dershowitz to rip off his t-shirt to unveil another t-shirt underneath it that reportedly read “It’s The Constitution Stupid!”
Dershowitz eventually “drove off in an old, dirty Volvo,” according to Page Six’s sources.

These uppity Martha’s Vineyard residents are the same people who threw a fit when Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis shipped a few dozen illegal aliens to their community last September. This is despite thousands of illegals streaming into southern-state communities in Texas and elsewhere.
A couple of hours later, the illegals were scooped up by the National Guard and whisked away so that the uppity residents of Martha’s Vineyard could be at peace again among their toffee-nosed selves …
