The more time and distance there is from Will Smith shockingly slapping comedian Chris Rock in the head on live television during the airing of the 94th Academy Awards, the worse it looks for the A-list actor.
On Sunday’s telecast, Rock joked about seeing Pinkett-Smith in GI Jane 2 — she suffers alopecia, which causes hair loss — and after first appearing to laugh at the joke, when his wife expressed her clear disapproval by rolling her eyes while tossing her head back, Smith would then storm the stage and slap the comedian.
“Will Smith just smacked the sh-t out of me,” said Rock, the consummate professional who pressed on in his role as an Oscars presenter, while Smith returned to his seat and screamed, “Keep my wife’s name out of your f–king mouth!”
There is new video out that was shared by left-wing actor Michael Rapaport showing Pinkett Smith seemingly laughing after her husband violently assaulted Rock.
“People saying Will Smith was protecting Jada, Why wasn’t JADA protecting Will from literally ruining his entire career? My Wife would’ve been fighting me before I sat down for making an a–hole of myself & our family,” Rapaport would add.

There has been plenty of scrutiny of the Smiths’ marriage since the slap heard ’round the world, to include publicly admitted infidelity by Pinkett-Smith. There have been many reports over the years about them being in an open marriage, although the Smiths apparently have denied these claims. There is also a widely held belief that Sunday night’s debacle was a desperate attempt by Will Smith to reclaim his masculinity, having been publicly emasculated by his wife.
Smith has also seen serious criticism about allegedly protecting his wife’s honor with such passion over a harmless joke when he should have been more focused on other men dishonoring his marriage.
The Academy Awards has since said that Smith, who faces potential “suspension [and] expulsion,” was asked through an aide to leave after the incident and refused.
“While we would like to clarify that Mr. Smith was asked to leave the ceremony and refused, we also recognize we could have handled the situation differently,” the Academy said.
Video has also surfaced of Chris Rock after the assault and it’s clear that he is upset and embarrassed over what had just taken place.

Smith would eventually apologize to Rock — two days later.
“My behavior at last night’s Academy Awards was unacceptable and inexcusable. Jokes at my expense are a part of the job, but a joke about Jada’s medical condition was too much for me to bear and I reacted emotionally,” he said in a statement.
“I would like to publicly apologize to you, Chris. I was out of line and I was wrong. I am embarrassed and my actions were not indicative of the man I want to be. There is no place for violence in a world of love and kindness.”
