Janet Yellen reacts to rapper Cardi B’s recession question: ‘Don’t look to me to announce it’

Rapper Cardi B may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but when it comes to the economy, she appears to share the same concerns as most Americans.

On Sunday, the artist, whose real name is Belcalis Marlenis Almánzar, posed a question that has been asked by much of the middle class as they watch prices skyrocket: When is the recession coming?

“When y’all think they going to announce that we going into a recession?” Cardi B tweeted.

This very tweet was brought to the attention of Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen on Thursday during a policy forum, where she denied that the United States was headed toward a recession.

“Don’t look to me to announce it. I’m not going to announce it. I don’t think we’re going to have a recession,” Yellen said between guffaws.

While Yellen was busy dismissing the rapper’s economic concerns, others were wondering why Cardi B is complaining in the first place. After all, she DID encourage her fans to vote for President Joe Biden:
