Jason Aldean’s ‘Try That In a Small Town’ video quietly edited amid uproar over legal dispute with FOX

Jason Aldean’s popular song/music video, “Try That In A Small Town,” has reportedly been edited because of a legal controversy involving FOX, the parent company of Fox News.

“The video is now six seconds shorter than when it was uploaded to YouTube on July 14, and it no longer contains a news clip from Fox 5 Atlanta [station WAGA] depicting violent confrontations during Black Lives Matter demonstrations in 2020 and subsequent protests in January,” according to The Washington Post.

That’s the bad news. The good news is that Aldean personally had nothing to do with the edit. In fact, nobody on his team is necessarily to blame for it.

TMZ explained in a report Thursday that the production company behind the music video was forced to remove the content specifically because of threats from FOX.

“[B]ack when they were producing the video, the company that produced it reached out to FOX on May 8 and asked for permission to use the 6 seconds of video shot by FOX 5 Atlanta … showing violence at a BLM rally,” TMZ notes.

“We’re told the folks at FOX asked for more information … specifically the lyrics of the song. We’re told the production company sent FOX a link to the song — which was released May 19 — but the protocol was to send the lyrics in writing, which they never did,” according to TMZ.

Then came July 14th, the day the video was publicly released. FOX was reportedly NOT happy.

“FOX reached out to the production company and asked them to remove the video to avoid any legal action — which was described to us as a ‘polite ultimatum’ — and the production company complied,” TMZ notes.

Fans of the song and music video are NOT happy and are now lashing out at FOX and its subsidiaries, including Fox News.

“Jason Aldean forced to edit BLM video footage in his #1 song …. by FOX. You know…. The network who says ‘we report, you decide,'” Juanita Broaddrick tweeted.

As previously reported, “Try That In A Small Town” has stirred massive controversy  because the lyrics to it center around a small-town man who warns criminals, particularly violent rioters/looters, that the people in his town won’t tolerate their bull.

Adding to the controversy has  been film footage from the violent 2020 Black Lives Matter riots that was inserted into — and since removed from — the music video.

As a result of all this, Aldean has been widely condemned by the pro-criminal left as a racist, bigot, white supremacist, Nazi, you name it. Even some of his fellow country singers have thrown him under the bus, including Sheryl Crow.

“I’m from a small town. Even people in small towns are sick of violence. There’s nothing small-town or American about promoting violence. You should know that better than anyone having survived a mass shooting. This is not American or small town-like. It’s just lame,” she tweeted earlier this month.

Aldean’s supporters have loyally stood by his side through all this. However, when news of the music video edit first emerged, some of his fans did lash out at him, because they falsely assumed that he personally had “caved” to the left-wing mob.
