Hypocrisy is the coin of the realm in the Democratic Party, and the top House Democrat was taking money from a “foreclosure crisis profiteer” at the same time he was blaming Republicans for driving up housing costs.
House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) has pledged to “lower housing costs” and “end price gouging” while being critical of the opposition “pandering to big Republican donors,” despite his largest political fund receiving hundreds of thousands of dollars from billionaire investor Don Mullen.
Democrats will lower housing costs, end price gouging and grow the middle class.

Mullen famously bet against the housing market while a Goldman Sachs exec during the 2007 subprime crisis in what is known as “The Big Short” and now runs Pretium Partners, which specializes in scooping up foreclosed homes and renting them out to tenants and is now the single largest homeowner in some U.S. counties.
“Sounds like we will make some serious money,” he notoriously said in a 2007 email to colleagues as the housing market imploded and families lost their homes.
But apparently that doesn’t matter to the colossal hypocrite Jeffries and other Dems who gladly took the money, once again demonstrating how thoroughly unprincipled they are in reality while falsely presenting themselves as heroic champions for the little people.

The Daily Mail cites Federal Election Committee (FEC) records to report that “Mullen has given a total of $5.8million to Democratic campaigns,” including a whopping $700,000 to the House Majority PAC (HMP), which is used by Jeffries to steer campaign funds to candidates throughout the country.
“Every person in this country should have access to safe and dignified housing. Unfortunately, after decades of underinvestment in public housing, skyrocketing rental prices, lack of affordable housing stock and the widening wealth gap, we are facing a housing crisis in America,” Jeffries said in a 2023 press release.
“On a daily basis, residents in my district face soaring rent costs and are finding themselves without an affordable place to live. My entire time in Congress I have advocated for significant investments in housing, and I am proud to have voted for bold housing plans. A transformative investment in housing is long overdue,: added the New York Democrat, who could become Speaker of the House if Democrats win the midterms.
“So-called ‘Leader’ Hakeem Jeffries and his band of do-nothing Democrats love to lecture Americans about the housing crisis and accuse Republicans of helping ‘big donors,’” the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) said in a Thursday statement exposing the “housing hypocrisy” of House Democrats.
“But a new bombshell report exposes their hypocrisy, as Jeffries and House Democrats like Susie Lee, Steven Horsford, Josh Gottheimer, and Josh Harder have been filling their coffers with cash from Don Mullen, the country’s biggest “foreclosure crisis profiteer” and “the guy who screwed America’s economy,’” the NRCC said, linking to the Daily Mail exclusive.
“While Republicans are laser-focused on lowering costs for working families, hypocritical national Democrats are lining their pockets with their millionaire donors who drove families out of their homes. Democrats can rail against ‘corporate greed’ on cable news all they want, but voters aren’t buying their phony lies,” said NRCC Spokesman Mike Marinella
