Jeffries draws the line: Blaming American Jews for antisemitism is ‘dangerous’

House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries is under heavy fire from his left flank for daring to show the Jews some love.

The firestorm started Monday when Jeffries posted a tweet responding to antisemitic remarks made by leftist hatemonger Hasan Piker.

While speaking on an online stream last week about the Michigan Senate, Piker blamed Jews for antisemitism and referred to Israel as the “Jewish ISIS.”

“If Jews in America keep putting this idea out there that they are singularly invested in Israel, eventually someone’s going to come around and take action, not against the State of Israel, mind you, but against American Jews,” he said.

“You’re running around basically tying your entire identity to a country that inevitably will be seen as, basically, Jewish ISIS, and you’re saying, as Jews, ‘This is all we care about.’ You’re making antisemitism worse,” he added.

Jeffries responded on Monday via a tweet, thus becoming the most high-profile member of the Democrat Party to condemn Piker.

“The malicious claim that American Jews are inviting violence against themselves is dangerous and antisemitic,” he wrote. “There is zero justification for threats against the safety of our Jewish brothers and sisters at a moment of rising hate. We will fight the cancer of antisemitism with the fierce urgency of now.”

Judging by the flood of animosity that erupted after Jeffries posted the tweet, one would think he’d just called for someone’s murder. Indeed, by Tuesday morning the tweet boasted nearly 5,000 scathing replies.

Leading the barrage was another leftist hatemonger, Mehdi Hasan.

“Democratic Party leaders and big names have spent more time over the past few weeks joining Fox in obsessively attacking a Twitch streamer than actually attacking Republicans, e.g, Mike Rogers’s allies have hosted insurrectionist and Islamophobe Jake Lang – any condemnations?” he wrote.

He conveniently forgot to mention that several high-profile Democrats have hobnobbed with Piker, including Michigan Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed, who’s even gone so far as to publicly defend his most outrageous comments.

Cenk Uygur, the founder of The Young Turks, took things a step further by accusing Jeffries of having been “bribed” by Israel.

“There’s 23,000 dead kids in Gaza and this guy couldn’t care less,” he wrote in a tweet. “Now, he’s pretending Jewish lives are in danger, so he can shut down any criticism of his beloved Israel. Why? Because he got bribed by the Israeli lobby to the tune of $1.7 million. He serves Israel, not you.”

Another critic reportedly called Jeffries “AIPAC Shakur.”

The irony is that Jeffries also got some flak from the right for not specifically naming Piker in his post.

Meanwhile, El-Sayed, the Michigan Senate candidate, is also facing backlash for showing the Jews some love in the wake of Piker’s hideous comments.

Much like Jeffries’ replies, El-Sayed’s reply section is now full of leftists shrieking at him for daring to display a shred of decency.
