Jeffries pledges Dems will run Hegseth ‘out of town’ if they win midterms

It’s uncertain if House Democrats will quickly move to impeach President Donald J. Trump for a third time if they regain control in the midterms, but Pete Hegseth is a different story.

House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) said that if the Democrats come out on top next Tuesday, they will run the Secretary of War “out of town” unless Trump fires him first.

“Dollar Store Obama” told MS NOW that Hegseth must go, with the party having dialed up their attacks on the Pentagon boss in the stretch run for what is arguably the most important midterm elections in the nation’s history, one that could put the left-wing party back in charge of Congress only two years removed from their 2024 shellacking.

When asked by the left-wing network’s senior Capitol Hill reporter Ali Vitali about his remarks at a rally that Dems are going to run Hegseth “out of town” when they take over, Jeffries pledged to hold him accountable, citing former attorney general Pam Bondi and the ex-DHS boss as examples even though both were dumped by Trump and not the House Democrats.

“Pete Hegseth needs to be pushed aside by the president, or we’re going to have to deal with that situation if he is not,” the top House Democrat said.

Vitali then brought up the existing impeachment resolution against Hegseth that was kept from a vote when Republican Speaker Mike Johnson adjourned the House through the midterms last month.

“We haven’t had an opportunity to actually talk about it because it was short-circuited when Speaker Johnson and House Republicans literally ran out of town so that they didn’t have to take up that resolution,” Jeffries responded.

“That was brought up by a Republican member from Kentucky,” he continued, referring to Rep. Thomas Massie (R-Ky.) who lost his May primary to a Trump-backed candidate awash in out-of-state money.

“When we get back after the November 3 election, we’ll have a conversation as a caucus about how we want to deal with the Pete Hegseth resolution, and that should be in front of us immediately upon our return,” he said.

After Vitali asked if he was “inclined to support it,” Jeffries reiterated his opposition to Hegseth.

“What I’m inclined to do is to act consistently with what I’ve said relative to Pete Hegseth from the very beginning: I called for Pete Hegseth to be fired by Donald Trump in the spring of 2025. He is deeply unqualified,” Jeffries stated.

The trash-talking New Yorker is on the brink of making history as the first black House speaker in the nation’s history and is likely going to want to send a message by nailing a high-profile scalp to the trophy wall right off the bat.

Hegseth may be focused on the war in Iran, but his enemies at home may represent far more personal danger to him than the ayatollahs ever could.
