Former White House press secretary Jen Psaki’s new MSNBC show premiered Sunday with a who’s who of propaganda puff pieces and a soupçon of punching down.
Unsurprisingly, leftist echo chamber denizens found themselves fawning at the premiere of the “circle back” communicator’s new weekly program, “Inside with Jen Psaki.” Like her original lateral move from the White House to corporate media, little changed in her delivery of heavily biased current events to the benefit of President Joe Biden’s administration and Democrats writ large.
What did stand out from the debut that celebrated featured progressives Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, New York City Mayor Eric Adams and House Minority Leader Rep. Hakeem Jeffries (NY), was her willingness to target lesser-known commentator Bethany Mandel after the Deseret News contributor momentarily fumbled on defining “woke.”
“So, I mean, woke is sort of the idea that,” Mandel tried during an appearance on The Hill’s “Rising” before asserting, “This is gonna be one of those moments that goes viral. I mean, woke is something that’s very hard to define and we’ve spent an entire chapter defining it.”
“It’s hard to explain in a 15-second soundbite,” the author of “Stolen Youth” went on to add.
Psaki gleefully reacted to the clip at the end of a segment that emphasized the right’s penchant for using the term as a pejorative while policy proponents embrace it as a positive, part of a continuous narrative on the importance of controlling the language.
“Just two cents from someone who has worked in communications — if you can’t explain it and people don’t understand it in 15 seconds, it may not be the winning message you think it is,” she said before adding, “So, everyone out there, it sounds like you can let your woke flag fly.”

The smug declaration and series of interviews designed to promote Democratic policies were truly no different than what Psaki did when she was on the White House’s payroll and so left independent journalist Glenn Greenwald calling out the shameful behavior of his peers.
“By the way, do any NBC News reporters or MSNBC hosts stop for even one second and ask what it says about them that Jen Psaki can go from lying to serve the US Security State and the Biden WH to doing their jobs, without having to change a single thing? She just fits right in,” he tweeted along with a screenshot of a Deadline article.

The piece read in part, “Her left-of-center POV and experience as a communications strategist make her a natural fit for the network’s opinion show audiences, but with this show she is going beyond the role of NBC News pundit to that of cable host, a transition that requires the skills of an interviewer and the ease of an engaging personality.”
In other words, she will now set her aim at low-hanging fruit to score cheap political points while serving the same narrative she had in the current administration. No doubt, her “engaging personality” would look ill at ease if she tried to have the debate on woke with former President Donald Trump or Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis.
