Conservative contributor Scott Jennings stumped a CNN panel of liberals when he introduced the basic concept of supply and demand.
In pointing out that the cost of housing went up during the Biden administration, Jennings agreed that there is a housing shortage in America before adding that when 10-20 million illegal aliens are added to the mix, it’s only going to exacerbate the problem.
Jennings shared the exchange on X, adding: “The divide between the right & left is so deep, we can’t even agree on long-established economic principles anymore. When you already have a shortage of something and you add 20 MILLION people who are trying to get that something, prices go up!”

The discussion was prompted by Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, who appeared before both chambers of Congress this week.
The Trump official told Rep. Sylvia Garcia (D-TX), “If you think that somehow the laws of supply and demand do not apply to housing, I would say you’re incorrect.”
On the same topic, he schooled 87-year-old Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA) on supply and demand in the housing market.
“The mass, unfettered immigration adding 10 to 20 million new people demanding housing, Congresswoman, is what caused a great deal of housing inflation for working Americans, so you and the Biden administration should be ashamed,” he said, before pointing out that rent prices are trending down as a result of the administration deporting illegal immigrants.
Here’s a quick sampling of responses to the story, as seen on X:
Again I’ll say it – I know they pay you well Scott, but holy sh*t there is no amount of money large enough to sit amongst the cackling losers for an hour. This clip alone brought my IQ down 5 points.

Personally, I’m not at all surprised by the fact that the concept of supply and demand baffles liberals. If it didn’t, the economic policies they support would be completely different.

Why does Abby Phillip need proof that 20 million people need somewhere to live? Economics 101 supply and demand. She’s such an awful moderator if you can even call her that.

Supply and demand is so basic, it’s more a law of physics then economics.

This is often known as the “law of supply and demand.”
And it is called a “law” because it is SO consistent and predictable.
When you have low supply and high demand, prices go up — always. When the opposite is true, prices go down — always.

Ask Abby if she can explain a simple supply and demand graph. It’s high school level economics. And she went to Harvard? pic.twitter.com/VC1b7dYIqC
