Jill Biden’s ex-press secretary tags Biden bubble as ‘some of the nastiest and most mean-spirited people’

The former first lady’s onetime press secretary shared his thoughts on the “Mean Girls” conditions inside the previous administration with “some of the nastiest and most mean-spirited people.”

Timed for the release of former Vice President Kamala Harris’ new book, an op-ed on Fox News appeared determined to separate the twice-failed presidential hopeful from her own Biden-Harris administration. Penned by former First Lady Jill Biden’s former Press Secretary Michael LaRosa, the message echoed excerpts from Harris’ “107 Days” that “the Biden bubble was full of bullies.”

The spokesperson turned Democrat strategist remarked on the talking point strategy that staff were instructed to follow after claiming then-President Joe Biden’s team pushed his run for re-election without explaining the alleged position, “He has to run because she can’t.”

“Harris’s forthcoming book, according to recently released excerpts, says what insiders whispered for years: the Biden bubble was full of bullies. The former vice president is finally saying the quiet part out loud,” wrote LaRosa, who argued Biden’s win came with a record number of votes but left Democrats feeling “stuck with us, not inspired by us.”

“The Biden White House was filled with its share of cartoonist characters out of a badly cast high school version of ‘West Side Story.’ They thought they were a ‘BFD’ because they had worked in a previous administration or because our campaign defied the odds and beat expectations. But they had no instincts for the shifting media and political landscape — and no instinct for politics as it is now lived and practiced in the age of Donald Trump,” he continued.

“Inside the White House, the Regina Georges of Biden’s circle ruled like mean girls and policed loyalty,” suggested LaRosa, referring to the “Mean Girls” character portrayed by Rachel McAdams. “Staff weren’t serving a president and first lady — they were serving a cult. You never knew when Regina was in charge or when the Bidens were. It was all blurred.”

Excerpts from Harris’ book reported by The Atlantic included her claim to have “often learned that the president’s staff was adding fuel to negative narratives that sprang up around me,” while dismissing details about the high turnover in her office. “Their thinking was zero-sum: If she’s shining, he’s dimmed. None of them grasped that if I did well, he did well.”

“Joe and Jill Biden were warm, decent, empathetic. But they enabled some of the nastiest and most mean-spirited people I’ve ever encountered in politics. That contradiction defines the Biden era,” wrote the strategist, calling to mind Jill Biden’s “work husband,” senior adviser Anthony Bernal, who was accused of both bullying and sexual harassment that were reportedly overlooked because of his “untouchable” relationship with the then-first lady.

LaRosa went on to express how his own decisions to buck the left’s prevailing narrative had turned “the president’s bullies” against him.

“I wanted to be taken seriously, not just another robot regurgitating thoughtless talking points. I balanced my love for and personal loyalty to the Biden family with candid and thoughtful analysis. But the president’s bullies didn’t see it that way,” he wrote. “To them, I had taken off the team jersey by pointing out missed opportunities and mistakes, so they came for me.”

“Biden’s bullies dragged him down — and tried to drag Harris with him. Now, they’re out for her —  again,” the strategist added near the end of his op-ed before a final pitch for the former vice president to continue “to speak with unfiltered candor about her experience.”
