Jim Jordan on Fani Willis’ case! Lawmaker seeks documents from DA’s alleged prosecutor lover

GOP lawmakers are looking to get answers from the Georgia prosecutor who allegedly had a romantic relationship with Fulton County DA Fani Willis who hired him to head up her case against former President Donald J. Trump.

In a Friday letter to Nathan Wade, the Atlanta-area attorney whom Willis tabbed to spearhead the election interference case against Trump, House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) requested documents and information as well as his “cooperation with our oversight.”

Willis’ prosecution of the Republican frontrunner was rocked this week when details of her alleged fling with Wade were revealed in a court filing seeking her dismissal. It was also reported that invoices show that he met with Trump’s political foes, including the now-defunct Nancy Pelosi-Liz Cheney January 6 committee as well as meeting with representatives of the Biden White House.

“The Committee on the Judiciary continues to conduct oversight of politically motivated prosecutions by state and local officials. Based on recent reports, we believe that you possess documents and information about the coordination of the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office (FCDAO) with other politically motivated investigations and prosecutions and the potential misuse of federal funds. Accordingly, we ask for your cooperation with our oversight,” Jordan wrote.

“On August 14, 2023, with your assistance, Fulton County District Attorney Fani T. Willis indicted a former President of the United States and current declared candidate for that office. According to a recent court filing, you have been paid more than $650,000—at the rate of $250 per hour—to serve as an ‘Attorney Consultant’ and later a ‘Special Assistant District Attorney’ in the unprecedented investigation and prosecution of the former President and other former federal officials. This filing also alleges that while receiving a substantial amount of money from Fulton County, you spent extravagantly on lavish vacations with your boss, Ms. Willis,” the letter reads.

“Although Ms. Willis has so far refused to cooperate with our oversight of the FCDAO’s coordination with other politically motivated prosecutions, invoices that you submitted for payment by the FCDAO, and made public as part of this court filing, highlight this collusion. This new information appears to substantiate our concerns that Ms. Willis’s politicized prosecution, including the decision to convene a special purpose grand jury, was aided by partisan Democrats in Washington, D.C.,” Jordan stated, listing the potentially incriminating invoices.

“Willis and Wade have engaged in a personal relationship both before and after Willis appointed Wade as the special prosecutor in the instant case,” stated the motion filed by former Trump staffer Michael Roman. “Willis and Wade were romantically involved prior to Willis awarding a contract for legal services with Wade. It is not entirely clear when the relationship began, but it began while Wade was married.”

Willis has previously refused to cooperate with congressional Republicans.

Jordan’s letter gives Wade until no later than 10:00 a.m. on January 26, 2024.
