Joe Biden’s latest BLUNDER spurs fact-check, mockery overload

Gaffetastic President Joe Biden’s reputation wasn’t helped by a social media team that bungled a basic point earning a ridicule-worthy Community Note.

Too frequent displays by the president seen wandering the wrong direction off a stage or attempting to shake the hand of someone not there have often been met with concerns that he doesn’t know where he is. Now, thanks to a post on his personal X account, the public can now question whether or not the most powerful figure in the free world even knows when he is.

On Friday, an image of Biden taking a selfie with an individual in a yellow safety vest was posted online in an attempt to tout the Inflation Reduction Act’s impact on the green agenda. The caption read,  “The Inflation Reduction Act is projected to help triple wind power and increase solar power eightfold, while electricity deployed through the U.S. power grid is expected to be powered by 81% clean energy by 2023.”

It wasn’t long before the obvious error was pointed out by a Community Note that read, “2030, not 2023, is the White House target date for 81% of US electricity to be produced by clean energy, as POTUS previously posted.”

If there was one thing that Biden had demonstrated throughout his administration as Americans faced record high gas prices, it’s that increasing domestic energy production in the near future was not something that could be listed as an accomplishment.

The Community Note even linked to a post from the president’s official government account that showed the year had been noted in error as his handlers had previously stated, “Because of our historic clean energy action, by 2030, electricity deployed through the U.S. power grid is expected to be powered by 81% clean energy. Imagine the impact that will have on the climate and the air we breathe.”

Of course, the communications team gets to reap the embarrassment on this one after previously outing themselves with a post via White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre’s account that had clearly been meant for Biden’s that read in part, “When I ran for President, I made a promise that I would leave no part of the country behind.”

As one person stated in their own caption of Biden’s post while others piled on, “The moron in charge of houseplant brain’s Twitter account is as demented as he is.”

Others pointed to the claim itself, regardless of the glaring error, and called out the fallacy that the prioritized alternative energy sources were “clean energy.”

One wrote, “Biden is taking staged selfies like an egomaniac while he brags about ‘clean energy’ — meanwhile energy prices are through the roof. And there’s nothing clean about solar and wind energy. Their manufacturing creates a lot of pollution. They’re also inconsistent and unreliable,” while another criticized, “You know what IS clean? That dude’s vest! Talk about a staged photo op! No way that guy ‘works’ for a living!”
