Joe Rogan offers vaxx scientist $100K to debate RFK Jr – Elon Musk chimes in, talks ‘serious side effects’

Popular Spotify podcaster Joe Rogan has offered a zealously pro-vaccine scientist $100,000 to debate anti-vaccine Democrat presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr., but the scientist has thus far stubbornly refused to say “yes.”

Rogan challenged scientist Dr. Peter Hotez, who was a frequent MSNBC guest during the COVID pandemic, after Hotez posted the following tweet Saturday morning:

In the tweet, he shared a critical Vice article about RFK Jr. being allowed to share his anti-vaccine views on Rogan’s podcast.

It’s “just awful” Hotez tweeted.

“And from all the online attacks I’m receiving after this absurd podcast, it’s clear many actually believe this nonsense,” he added.

In responding to Hotez’s tweet later that evening, Rogan offered him $100,000 to the charity of his choice to debate RFK Jr. with no time limit.

“Peter, if you claim what RFK Jr. is saying is “misinformation” I am offering you $100,000.00 to the charity of your choice if you’re willing to debate him on my show with no time limit,” he tweeted.

In a tweet posted shortly thereafter, RFK expressed support for the idea:

Hotez replied to the offer by basically ignoring it and instead reminding Rogan that he has his contact information.

“Joe, you have my cell, my email, I’m always willing to speak with you,” he tweeted.

Rogan wasn’t pleased by this non-answer.

“This is a non answer. I challenged you publicly because you publicly quote tweeted and agreed with that dogshit vice article. If you’re really serious about what you stand for, you now have a massive opportunity for a debate that will reach the largest audience a discussion like this has ever had. If you think someone else is better qualified, suggest that person,” he tweeted back.

In a tweet posted shortly thereafter, billionaire Elon Musk accused Hotez of being scared of debating “because he knows he’s wrong.”

Hotez wasn’t pleased by Musk’s decision to involve himself in the matter.

“Seriously Elon? This is monstrous. 200,000 Americans needlessly perished (including 40,000 Texans, our neighbors) because they were victims of antivaccine disinformation during our awful Covid delta/BA.1 waves in 2021-22. Please don’t do this…,” he tweeted.

In response, Musk wrote a lengthy post about how “so many people,” including him, “had serious side effects from the [COVID] vaccines.”

Look:

As for what Rogan had written, Hotez replied by writing that he’s interested in having a discussion about “vaccine disinformation.”

“Joe if you are serious about addressing vaccines + the fact that 200,000 unvaccinated Americans needlessly perished during our awful delta/BA.1 Covid waves (including 40,000 in our state of Texas) because they fell victims to vaccine disinformation: I want to have that discussion,” he tweeted.

He added that he was open to “a number of different options” but didn’t appreciate being pressured on Twitter.

But if Hotez thought the pressure was bad before, he ain’t seen nothing yet.

Thanks to his stubborn refusal to just say “yes,” the pressure has since doubled, tripled, and quadrupled thanks to other famous and wealthy people offering to throw money into the pot to entice him into debating RFJ Jr.

On a side note, Dave Rubin also offered him money to fight Dr. Anthony Fauci:

As of Sunday morning, Hotez still hadn’t accepted the offer to debate. Instead, he’d spent all evening retweeting his fellow leftist supporters.
