Podcaster Joe Rogan reveals the answer to a question many people have been asking: Why hasn’t he been nominated for a Golden Globe?
Speaking with his guest, comedian Bert Kreischer, Rogan exposed the truth behind what it means to be in the running for the award show after his massively popular podcast “lost” to actress Amy Poehler’s Good Hang, which took home the inaugural Best Podcast award at the 83rd Golden Globes.

“A lot of people say, ‘Why wasn’t Joe Rogan nominated for the Golden Globes? Why did Amy Poehler win?’ I didn’t submit,” he explained. “They asked me to submit to be nominated for the Golden Globes and you had to pay $500. And the $500 is like for paperwork or whatever. I said, ‘No.’”
“Like, I don’t care. I already won. Like, you can’t tell me I didn’t win. I’ve been number one for six years in a row,” Rogan continued. “All of a sudden, you’re going to have a contest in front of all these people wearing tuxedos and you’re going to say, ‘Now I’m not number one.’ Like, f**k off. You can’t- like I don’t care that I’m number one, but I am in fact number one.”
“So, if all of a sudden you have a contest to decide who’s really number one amongst us. Like, that’s amongst you. You’re allowed to have your opinion. You like Amy Polar better than me, that’s great. I don’t care.”
“Yeah, they asked me to [submit],” the host said. “Yeah, I was like one of like six candidates. They took the top people. They basically just took the top people of the charts, but which, you know, it’s fine.”
Rogan said that while he has not watched Good Hang, it must have been good to have won the award.
“I’m sure it’s good. It won. I’m sure someone must love it. If it sucked, they would give it to someone else, right?”
But social media noted that the decision to give Poehler the award was controversial, as her podcast is under a year old, while many of the others on the nomination list had been running for longer.
“Call Her Daddy,” “The Mel Robbins Podcast,” “SmartLess,” “Up First” and “Armchair Expert with Dax Shepard” were also among those considered.

He’s totally right. Art doesn’t need permission slips.
That’s why these award shows are fading fast.

Well, the whole idea behind paying for the nomination kills the idea of nomination itself and the entire concept of awards.

If you have to pay to be a candidate to win an award, I question any validity to that award.
