John Fetterman skipping DNC, says he has no regrets – here’s why

Sen. John Fetterman (D-PA) continues to tick off Democrats, announcing that he will skip the Democratic National Convention this week to spend time with his children.

Leftists however are claiming it’s because of his strong support for Israel as thousands of pro-Hamas protesters descend on Chicago to make their hatred for the Jewish state clear to Democrats.

“John Fetterman is skipping this week’s Democratic National Convention in Chicago, and, to hear it from him, it has nothing—literally nothing—to do with him scotch-taping photos of the Israeli hostages to his Senate office walls. Or attacking fellow Democrats Rashida Tlaib and Ilhan Omar for falsely blaming a hospital bombing in Gaza on Israel. (‘It’s truly disturbing that Members of Congress rushed to blame Israel for the hospital tragedy in Gaza. Who would take the word of a group that just massacred innocent Israeli civilians over our key ally?’) Or comparing the pro-Hamas encampment at Columbia to a neo-Nazi rally (‘Add some tiki torches and it’s Charlottesville for these Jewish students,’ he tweeted),” The Free Press reported.

“Nor is it about ‘Fetterman Alumni for Peace’—a group of former Fetterman campaign staffers—publicly scolding their old boss: ‘It is not too late to change your stance and stand on the righteous side of history,'” the outlet added.

Fetterman has three children who are out of school for four days. He claims he wants to spend time with them and believes that is more important than a political gathering. And he seems to not give a rip whether he would be welcome in Chicago or not. The decision to forego the convention was made some time ago by the senator.

The Pennsylvania Democrat has been a staunch supporter of Israel and has taken a strong stand for them ever since Hamas attacked the Jewish state on Oct. 7, 2023, slaughtering 1,200 civilians and kidnapping hundreds more. His stomach turned at the raping and torturing of innocent Israelis and others on that day.

“I forcefully condemn these cowardly, horrifying, unprovoked attacks on Israel by Hamas. Attacking innocent civilians is particularly despicable and reflects the craven behavior of this terrorist group. I unequivocally stand with the people of Israel now, and always,” Fetterman said after the attack.

Once the darling of the Democrats and Hollywood, Fetterman is now a pariah because he supports Israel and not the Palestinians and the terrorist group Hamas. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has called him a bully and other Democrats say they no longer recognize him.

He’s had to endure protests and threats from radicals on the Left who have descended on his home and place of work.

Even some of his current staff seem to have turned on him.

“I don’t agree with him” about Israel and Gaza, Carrie Adams, Fetterman’s communications director, told The Free Press in a phone interview.

“I have a sense that his international views are a lot less nuanced than my generation, because when he was growing up, it was might makes right, and for my generation and younger who, of course, are the ones protesting this, they have a much more nuanced view of the region,” Adams asserted.

Fetterman seems unfazed by the radical chic that younger leftists seem to cling to now, declaring themselves pro-Hamas and anti-Israel. Many are aggressively anti-Semitic.

“I’ve been frustrated by some of my members and how they’ve chosen to handle that situation,” Fetterman commented concerning Democrats’ stance on Israel’s war against Hamas. “I don’t agree with a lot of their views, but whatever kinds of political choices or any kind of political costs that I’ve incurred throughout all that, I don’t care.”

“I haven’t once even regretted any of that,” he emphasized.
