The ladies of ‘The View’ are no strangers to thoughtless commentary about deeply nuanced subjects, but co-host Joy Behar’s latest stunt stunned one guest host into silence.
During a debate on gun rights in America, Behar grew visibly more frustrated until she exploded, telling her black guest co-host “Once black people get guns in this country, the gun laws will change.”
Sunny Hostin brought up how the terrorist attacks on 9/11 fundamentally changed the airline industry, preventing future attacks of the same magnitude, so why haven’t the politicians done the same thing in the wake of mass shootings?
“Let’s talk about racism and white supremacy, and the issue he was talking about. Why did the Republican Party vote down that?” Sunny asked? “When you talk about what happened on 9/11, right, and that was Islamic terror, that’s only 20% of the terrorism that affected this country. We upended our entire airline industry, our entire security system, and that type of threat never happened again. 75% of the terrorism that happens here is from the political right and it’s white supremacy. We have done nothing to address it. Nothing to address it.”
Behar, once again not known for thinking before she speaks, indicated the reason was that “Islamic terrorists do not vote for them. Domestic terrorists do.”
When the conversation invariably flipped to AR-15 ownership, that is when Behar became more hostile.
“Let me say one more thing. Okay. Here’s the thing. Once black people get guns in this country, the gun laws will change. Trust me,” she said smugly.
However, a recent report states that minorities are becoming gun owners in record numbers, which directly contradicts Behar’s claim.
“According to the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSFF), retailer surveys revealed a 58% increase in gun sales to African Americans, a 49% increase among Hispanic Americans, and firearm sales to Asian Americans jumped by 43%” reported American Wire.
