Joy Reid laughably claims Hunter Biden ‘treated worse than anyone else would be’

Radically far-left MSNBC host Joy Reid genuinely believes President Joe Biden’s youngest son, Hunter, is a victim.

Indeed, during a segment on Friday, hours after Attorney General Merrick Garland appointed a special counsel to investigate Hunter, she claimed he’s being so, so, so poorly treated by the Department of Justice.

“I think all of the evidence I’ve seen so far in this case is that Hunter Biden – he could be a terrible guy, I don’t know, never met him – is being treated worse than anyone else would be,” she said.

“He’s being treated worse the way Donald Trump claims he’s being treated worse. But he actually is because normally this would just be misdemeanor stuff that would be done with. Instead, he’s endlessly investigated because of politics,” she added.

She based her dubious claim on an old article from The Daily Beast that claimed that the DOJ usually doesn’t come down so hard on people for allegedly minor gun violations.

“When the feds do bring this type of case, they come down hard. But it’s usually a tool they use to take down tough to arrest criminals, like militant white nationalists, Islamist terrorists, or narcotraffickers,” the piece reads.

“Hunter Biden is none of those. And that situation is leaving former federal agents, prosecutors, and gun industry experts scratching their heads. To some, it reads like favoritism,” it continues.

As previously reported, Hunter Biden originally pleaded guilty to two misdemeanor tax charges and entered a diversion agreement that would have allowed him to avoid jail time for a felony gun charge. This seemingly is considered bad treatment?

Of course, the sweetheart deal eventually fell through, but only after it was learned at the last moment that the DOJ had hidden broad immunity within the plea deal. The immunity would have made it impossible to prosecute Hunter for any other crimes he may have committed — crimes related to his influence-peddling overseas, for instance.

FYI, former President Donald Trump certainly has never been offered a similar plea deal. Instead, he’s faced endless indictments and the threat of serious prison time.

Responding to Reid’s claim, critics were quick to mock and troll her.

Most conservatives, including the editorial board of the New York Post, strongly believe Hunter has repeatedly benefitted from a plethora of special treatment.

For example: “Rep. Jim Comer (R-Ky.) revealed … that a former FBI supervisory special agent assigned to the probe has confirmed the Secret Service and the Biden transition team got a tipoff that the feds were looking to talk to Hunter — backing up a claim from courageous IRS whistleblower Gary Shapley,” the board wrote last month.

“The agents were even forbidden to ring Hunter’s doorbell, instead being instructed to wait for him to contact them — a kid-glove treatment literally no one else ever got, per the whistleblower,” they added.

Sounds like actual favoritism, doesn’t it?

It’s not just the Post’s board that believes this. A Reuters poll published in June found that “[h]alf of Americans believe U.S. President Joe Biden’s son, Hunter Biden, received preferential treatment from prosecutors who reached a deal that would allow the younger Biden to plead guilty to tax charges but avoid a gun-related conviction.”

The only person on the left who’s had the courage to admit the truth is sports commentator Stephen A. Smith.

“He’s the president’s son, and, short of physically harming somebody else, he’s not going to jail,” he said last month on his ESPN radio show.

“Why the hell wouldn’t preferential treatment be accorded to the son of the president of the United States? If I’m the commander in chief, I’m in charge of law enforcement throughout the country. The head of the Justice Department is appointed by me. State attorney generals and beyond answer to the Justice Department. … Why wouldn’t I have an inside track? Why wouldn’t I have inroads?” he added.
