Judge lets three-time deported criminal illegal alien accused of snatching 4-year-old girl from laundromat free

Soft-on-crime policies struck again on Long Island as a judge’s “insanity” forced ICE to re-arrest an illegal alien accused of kidnapping a small child.

“… this sicko is off our streets.”

Too often to be ignored, courthouses and jail cells have proven to be equipped with revolving doors for recidivism as release decisions seemingly put alleged criminals ahead of victimized communities. Such was the case in Patchogue, New York, when U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) was left having to waste resources to track down a three-time deported illegal alien who’d already been arrested and charged for allegedly kidnapping a four-year-old girl.

“This three-time deported criminal illegal alien, Carlos Corte-Corte, kidnapped an innocent four-year-old girl from a laundromat on Long Island,” said acting Department of Homeland Security Assistant (DHS) Secretary Lauren Bis to the New York Post. “New York sanctuary politicians chose to release this kidnapper from jail to prey on more innocent children rather than cooperate with ICE law enforcement.”

According to reports, the Ecuadorian who had first entered the country illegally in 2020 had allegedly led the young girl out of the Laundry Kingdom laundromat on March 28, where she’d been with her mom and sibling. Highlighting an Eyewitness News report, ICE stated, “Local law enforcement arrested Corte, charged him with kidnapping, and RELEASED HIM with an ankle monitor — despite the fact that he is an illegal alien and there was already an outstanding warrant out for his arrest.”

The Suffolk County Police Department detailed that surveillance footage allegedly showed the suspect leading the child out of the laundromat. The girl was later discovered at the nearby library’s play area before a patrol car also located Corte-Corte near the laundromat.

He was charged with Kidnapping 2nd Degree, Endangering the Welfare of a Child and for an outstanding warrant. Instead of holding Corte-Corte for ICE to begin removal proceedings, the Suffolk County district judge cleared the illegal alien for GPS-monitored supervised release.

“I think if you look at the facts of the case, clearly they’re concerning,” Suffolk County District Attorney Ray Tierney (R) told the Post.

The newspaper cited the defense of the illegal alien from Suffolk County legal aid attorney Alexandra Dyroff, “He thought the girl lived alone without parents.”

“He took her to the library and told an employee there as such, but there was a language barrier. It seems to be a mistake,” added Dyroff.

“Sanctuary politicians must stop putting politics above public safety. This type of insanity leads to more crimes and more innocent victims,” Bis went on. “Thanks to our ICE law enforcement, this sicko is off our streets.”

According to ICE, a few days after Corte-Corte was released, the agency’s Long Island Fugitive Operations “arrested him near his residence in a targeted operation, March 31.”

As with similar situations, reactions called for the judges permitting the wanted criminals to walk the streets, to be held accountable for subsequent wrongdoing.
