Kamala Harris ready to rumble in debate with J.D. Vance

Presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump named Sen. J.D. Vance (R-OH) as his vice presidential running mate on Monday, and the talk in political circles immediately turned to a potential debate with Vice President Kamala Harris, with Democrats doing their best to convince themselves that Harris would have a distinct upper hand against Vance.

There are conflicting reports on who would host the debate. According to Axios, the Biden campaign said in May that it had agreed to a CBS-hosted vice presidential debate for July or August. However, the Trump campaign said it accepted an invitation to a Fox News-hosted debate.

“Vice President Harris is prepared to debate J.D Vance,” Biden campaign spokesperson TJ Ducklo said in the call with reporters, according to the outlet. “We have accepted the proposal from CBS News … to participate in that debate, and we feel very good.”

Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) was on the call and she sent up positive smoke signals, “The VP will take it to J.D. Vance. I’m looking forward to this debate.”

This is more of the party’s longstanding strategy of trying to speak things into existence. Either way, as seen with “media strategist Sally Kohn,” Democrats are still all about the feels.

“Extremely excited to watch Kamala Harris run circles around JD Vance. She has more experience, more vision, more empathy, and more integrity in her little finger than he has or could ever have,” Kohn posted on X.

You know it’s a campaign strategy when left-wing Washington Post columnist Jennifer Rubin weighs in with an inane post like this: “Kamala Harris waiting for the debate is like a kid eyeing a candy store.”

Rubin’s comment drew a response from Megyn McCain, who said in a reply: “Tulsi Gabbard smoked her ass so hard in the debate Kamala dropped out a few weeks later and never made it to Iowa – her debate performances were so bad they have reached mythology in political history. I swear to God – how the hell do you stay employed in media?!?”

The debate moment McCain references can be seen here:

You know Democrats are panicking when MSNBC’s Democratic propagandist Nicole Wallace starts pitching the company line:

Vance, who served in the U.S. Marine Corps as a combat correspondent and deployed to Iraq in late 2005, graduated from Yale Law School in New Haven, CT, after graduating from Ohio State University with a degree in political science and philosophy. Harris graduated from Howard University and the University of California Hastings College of Law.

The Republican senator was also editor of the Yale Law Journal and wrote a bestselling book, Hillbilly Elegy, which was turned into a Netflix movie.

All of this means Vance is no slouch when it comes to matters between the ears. In fact, conservatives seem to be more confident in their assessment that Harris is no match for Vance.
